Information about the Online Matchmaking
The online matching in the game is done through the process below:
  • Players who do not match with the same regulation versions are excluded
  • Players who cannot connect with the network type (mainly NAT3) are excluded (see *1 for details)
  • Players that are outside the host range parameter will be excluded.
  • Players who are from different regions are excluded
  • Based on the host, players who have out of ranged advanced weapon levels are excluded
  • The player level and the weapon level are less effective in the password matching.

*1 For those who have the network type of NAT3 (strict):

Even though you are able to open up the internet browser, but have difficulties accessing chat or the online game, please check the followings.
  • Check the quota of the global IP address
  • Make the UPnP setting valid
  • If the UPnP setting is invalid, try to open up the port
Even if the NAT type is either 1(open) or 2(moderate), depending on the above setting situation, there are cases you cannot match with other players.

*2 If the player is set as “matching” for the outside area matching (system> network setting> outside area matching) the player can match up with other different regions.

About the Matching Indicator (Player Level)
  • In the case of cooperation, the closer the level between the host and the player, the higher the possibility for a match.
  • In the case of invasion, there is a possibility that the host will match up with a player who has the same level or above.

The below adjustments are made in Regulation 1.06 concerning on play level match.

Cooperation

Summon Sign
Maximum: Host Level + 10 + Host Level*0.1
Minimum: Host Level – 10 – Host Level*0.1

Rescue of the Blue Spirit
Maximum: Host Level + 10 + Host Level*0.1
Minimum: Host Level – 10 – Host Level*0.1

Invasion

Dark Spirit Invasion
Maximum: Guest Level + 20 + Guest Level*0.1
Minimum: Guest Level – Guest Level*0.1

Mound-maker Invasion
Maximum: Guest Level + 20 + Guest Level*0.15
Minimum: Guest Level – Guest Level*0.1

Covenant Spirit Invasion
Maximum: Host Level + Host Level*0.1
Minimum: Host Level – 20 – Host Level*0.2

The Maximum Upgrade Level of the Weapon
  • The players won’t match if there is a big difference between weapon levels. However, this would not work in the case of the password matching (white sign, red sign)
  • In addition, no matter the number of the possessed weapons and the weapons that are already upgraded, the maximum advanced level will be taken into account.

The below will be the adjustments made in Regulation 1.06 concerning the weapon level:

Host and Guest are compared.

The lower Value The higher value
- 2 1 3 2 4 3 5 4 6 5 8 6 9 7 10 8 10 9 10 10 10

About the Covenant

The covenants that can be found in the game are listed below.
To join each covenant, it is necessary for the player to equip a covenant item by going through the item menu.

The Way of Blue:
If the dark spirit invades while playing as a host, they will receive help from the players of the Blue Sentinel and the Blade of the Darkmoon.

Warrior of Sunlight:
The color of the summon sign and the spirit body turns gold. If the player offers the medal of the sunlight, the contribution rate will increase.

The Blue Sentinels:
If the Way of Blue is invaded by the dark spirit, the host will be automatically summoned as a cooperative player.

The Blade of the Darkmoon:
If the Way of Blue is invaded by the dark spirit, the host will be automatically summoned as a cooperative player.

The Finger of Rosaria:
If the Pale Tongue is given to Rosaria, Mother of Rebirth, the contribution rate will increase.

Mound-maker:
Even in the case when summoned as a cooperative player, it is possible to attack the host and other team players.

Watch Dog of Farron
When the host besides the watchdog is at the Farron’s fortress, the host will be automatically summoned as an enemy.

Aldrich Faithful:
When the host besides Aldrich Faithful is at Anor Londo, the host will be automatically summoned as an enemy.

Inaccurate: There is no information on how your Steam Account's age factors into matchmaking for Darkmoons, Blue Sentinels, and Watchdogs of Farron

Then how come I'm in South America and invaded/summoned/got invaded by people from Germany, Czech Republic, Spain, Australia and Greece?

Are you really trying to hide the fact you've done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to fix the auto-summoning covenants?

Do you really think we are that stupid?

NEVER GOT A SINGLE BLUE SENTINELS OR BLADE OF THE DARKMOON SUMMON. This has been tested during 3 different playthroughs at all levels.

And guess what? Whenever I invade, there's always one blue guy coming to help the host. Because AS THIS WAS ALREADY DISCUSSED HERE

http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/app/374320/discussions/0/357286119111456394/

this is somewhat related to player IDs or whavever it is.

Fix your things, and never again think we're so dumb to eat whatever you said as "good".

At this point, we already know how incompetent FROM can be when it comes to PC programming. We already tasted it on DS1, when we needed the "ds fix" from a random modder to properly play the game we paid for.

How do I see if my Nat is open or not in DK3? I mean it's open on other games, just wanna be sure.

Ok then, have you done tracing of your ip to the game. Maybe it bounces through portugal somehow, like australians had to play through asian servers.
No. My IP bounces through Los Angeles. Before you continue though, let me just clarify that the "Matchmaking" in Dark Souls just serves so the players in JAPAN can allow (on) or block (off) connections with people from outside their country. Ok? Now shut up.

What a joke. let me guess. In each "different region" there are also "dedicated servers" just like in dark souls 2, right?

I do apprechiate the efford to bring us information. I'd rather have an actually working online experience instead though. or maybe both. a man can dream.

How is it innaccurate, the age doesn't matter, because when you go back, everything can be normal again, it's more like how many connections is the game considering to forcefeed you, even if those are inactive now.
What is this even supposed to mean? This is meaningless garbage, unless you can say what you meant in a working language.
Scrula 20 May, 2016 @ 9:28am
Are you like ... blind or just blessed with ignorance?
Players had to find a way around your incapacity to fix this issue and you tell us something completely useless? Why not just acknowledge what we found out and friggin fix it on your side.

There, that even solves the 'shadow-server' issue.

Nothing else to say. Auto-summon covenants are BROKEN for half the players, and it's a link between the SERVER and the STEAM ACCOUNT. People that got NEVEr summoned can get instant summons right after playing into a different account, SAME PC, SAME CHARACTER (copypaste save), SAME CONNECTION. It's broken, FROm did TWO patches to fix it, and did NOTHING, PLEASE go and fix the code that is causing that, its not too hard, wont take you too much time, it's just a joke at this point.
Burusagi 20 May, 2016 @ 9:30am
Stop blaming the players, Fromsoft.

People not getting summoned via the Covenants is not the fault of "their network".
This does not change that blue covenants and Watchdogs do not function for many players.
Community has found that creating a new Steam account helps-the summoning seems to be tied to the age of the account.
Raziel Lewach 20 May, 2016 @ 9:34am
FROM, if you want more info, we SUSPECT that it's related to how long we entered servers first day. People that, after the release in 11th April, entered in game-servers SUPER FAST (before 30 minutes) are the ones that can be summoned nonstop in darkmoons, watchdogs and aldrich. People that entered late, that day, or in next days, are NEVEr summoned, cause they are put into the bottom of some list that never refreshes, and the game only chooses players in the top and, after summoning them, places them AGAIN in the top. That, or they are just NOT ADDED to the list. It has been tested, it's true, PLEASE FIX IT. You have enough proofs in the two links i passed before, one talking intensely about the issue, and the other is a solution some players found and proves that it's broken.

I talked with some players and friends, and it was TRUE with all of them: if they entered late, they are never summoned, and the ones that downloaded-installed-decrypted super fast at launch, and were the FIRST to play, are always summoned

"From, it's okay, don't worry. You are a god to us, and did this epic game, but everyone can do mistakes. Please, remove way of blue, so blue's can help everyone, and add Darkmoons a blue orb, so they pursue sinners, and are not a copy of Blue Sentinels. it's okay, everyone can do mistakes, just accept it and work. JUST DO IT™" - Raziel, DarkK - 2016

Hey, that was what i wrote into another thread xD COPYRIGHT!

And that is the same about broken covenants.

Way of blue should be a toggle option in menu or a item. It even has not ranks, it should not be a covenant. But now that's not the reason why we are not summoned, but just broken, so...
