Scrolls vs Skills
I spent a lot of time and effort to get to Master Level in Pyrokinetic and learning the skill Meteor Shower. My friend that is playing COOP with me is a fighter. He found 3 Meteor Shower scrolls and can cast Meteor Shower right away.

How is that fair?

It's fair.

For scrolls, once you're out, you are out. Spells stays. And it's also fair game in getting/finding/buying those scrolls yourself.

Scrolls are in the top 3 most broken things in the game.

First RPG? Scrolls are single cast and disappear. You can cast spells an infinite number of times, aside from waiting for the cool down timer.

yes. those scrolls can be found after lvl 15 or 16. also buying at these lvl's.
you can get them also with high lucky loot. but skilling lucky loot for that is absolute not worth it. NOT.

You mean together with Meteor Shower and Hail Storm ...
(--> Meteor Shower scroll == double broken ;-)

About the 'lucky loot': I'd be surprised if high level scrolls were in the luck treasure table at all but it's been years since I last looked at them so they might be.
I agree however that the lucky trait is absolutely not worth getting.

I think that these scrolls could be crafted, and with some attempting (save scumming), there would be a certainty of getting them at one point (requires 5 in crafting however). Crafting and blacksmithing are definitely worth getting.

Grenades, scrolls and crafting in no particular order. I don't consider master spells broken since by the time you get access to those, your characters should already be pretty op; rather than game-defining, master spells are just the way to end battles in least amount of turns. A playstyle without master spells shouldn't have any difficulties either, but will definitely require more turns to achieve the same effect. Grenades, scrolls and crafting can break the game from the moment you enter Cyseal, all the way to endgame.

Yup. You can hit CR5 at level 3-5, depending on vendor rng. With a bit of luck, you can be crafting master scrolls before stepping out of Cyseal the first time.

I know skills are infinite and scrolls are 1 use but he already has 3 meteor shower scrolls AND they take less AP to use as my skill does AND he can use it more than once per battle if he wants. It seems unfair that a fighter can cast a spell as well or better than a wizard that has studied magic all his life.

He has gear that gives him lucky loot.

When you know the game you can also have high charisma at begining of game and avoid battles. CR5 skill can also be unfair at the begining of game as you can craft 5 level scrolls. It is hard to be a mage in many RPGs :-/

yes but i ment skilling lucky loot to his max with gear combined and using ability and drinking alkohol to get more.. can give you in containers those scrols even a couple lvl before 16.. but it is not realy worth it for a scroll wich you can buy at 16 anyway. espacialy you can play the game at highest dificulty and still dont need potions or scrolls.

anyways. what i ment was you would need lucky loot skilled at 4 - 8 if i am not wrong to get droped those scrolls constistently.

Some people must be talking about Divinity Original Sin 2 - which I have little knowledge about - because ...

I don't know where any myths about the Lucky trait in DOS:EE come from.
Fact is that this trait is NOT worth it. One can get some low level scroll, magic arrows and some green magic items with a 5% chance for lucky loot being created at all.

The Lucky treasure generation is also included in the game's weird 'random treasure generation' which is not random at all.
(There is some info in Larian's forum about what is required to get at least a tiny bit of randomness in loot/treasure generation.)

So unless a mod greatly improves the treasure table for the Lucky treasure generation, the trait is close to worthless unless someone is going for the tiny bit of gold or some special arrows.

I created a mod for the game and spent quite some time in treasure tables and tested quite a lot of the loot/treasure generation mechanics, so I know what I'm speaking of.
The game had its last patch in March 2016 so nothing has changed here.

Funny thing is... they haven't been studying magic or swordsmen all their lives. It takes just a few hours to level up to learn magic, or instant retraining to go from master archer to master wizard :P

But if we're talking about the imbalance of the game or RPG aspect, look elsewhere.

I was talking about Jahan, according to the plot he has been doing his thing for centuries.
