Sorry to hear you are having this issue! I will log this issue, but in the meantime can I recommend that you try either of both of the following
) In the options, turn off v-sync, and limit the FPS with the available slider option
) Reduce the Anti Aliasing option from SSAO to FXAA
Hopefully these combined should help reduce the issue.
Thanks
My anti-aliasing was already OFF completely. FPS I put to 120 (but it seems it went back up to 200 since I last checked - I must've forgotten after a reinstall. I didn't know about v-sync, have turned off now.
Let's see....
...test running now.
Sigh... I had high hopes but - UTTER FAIL. It was red hot after the fourth mission. Crashed to Desktop on completion of the 5th mission. Sent the report as usual.
Guys, this isn't an intermittent fault; LOTS of people are reporting a crash on mission completion. What happens in the program at that point? Come on man! It's been a year of reporting the same bug!
I've noticed slow downs on my end when there's volumetric fog and particles.
Although my computer has sufficient cooling, so it doesn't get that hot.
But these CTDs though. That's quite embarrassing.
Any news on the above average heat this game creates in a computer?
I ask, because looking through reviews as recent as June 2022, people are mentioning the game driving their new graphics cards much harder than AAA games.
I have a very hard time believing that having V-sync off could be better than having it on, in terms of limiting frames and preventing overheating.
I triangulated variables before I posted:
I run Elite, Doom, and various other AAA games on HIGHEST graphic settings and my computer doesn't break a sweat. Not even warm to the touch.
My setup is fine.
Also, other people in the store page reviews are complaining about heat and lack of optimisation.
There is a common factor doing this.
Same with the crash to desktop on mission completion.
Is there any merit to this observation?
just limit your framerate, its running pcs hot because people are letting it running with unlocked frames and it goes to pretty high numbers.
when i lock the frames at 30 it runs as cool as you think it should
I'll try it one more time. Such a good game. But in comparison to much higher graphics-heavy games I play at high frame-rates, the heat output is absurd!
Here goes...
