is it worth it or should I buy the sequel?

After installing the game and booting it up, my screen turns black for a moment and flickers before sending me back to the desktop and keeping the game minimized. Clicking the icon on the toolbar just repeats this process. I've already updated my graphics drivers (660TI), restarted a couple time, tried a couple different resolutions, and even uninstalled and reinstalled the game.
