The game is not working for me in full screen
For some reason Dragon's dogma is not working for me in any kind of full screen, everytime I select the option it just shows a black screen, the game is still working, I can even click things and hear the sound of when I select something, it's just that I can't SEE IT, just the mouse is visible.

So I thought I could simply play in windowed mode, the problem is that if I put my resolution screen (1920x1080) the exact same thing happens, the game is working on the background but I can't see it, it's just a black screen and the mouse.

So I tried to play the game windowed in 1600x900 and it works there, of course that leaves a lot of the screen without using so I thought that if I changed the screen resolution (of my pc, not the game) from 1920x1080 to 1600x900 that would use all the screen in windowed mode, but the exact same thing happened again! :steamsad: :steamsalty:

Whatever this is it's not letting me use my full screen no matter the method, if anyone knows how to fix this I would appreciate it.

Right click the game's icon, click properties, select compatibility at the top, and try checking disable display scaling on high DPI settings box. This worked for me when I had similar issues.

Didn't work, that option was already selected.

If it was already selected, try unselecting it.

Second thing I did, it made the game start in windowless mode at the resolution of my pc, so I still can't see anything.

I have this problem too. Windowed it's fine, but fullscreen is a slideshow.

Any thoughts anyone?

It's not the same problem if you can actually see something.

Kinda related problem here. But after restarting several times i could finally see the menu. Problem is that the black screen appears for a few seconds in cutscenes and in-game now. Pretty annoying to not see anything of the story or fight a chimera or cyclops while playing hide & seek with it... :steamsad:
Heh. if you have windows 10, use the windows 8 compatibillty mode. Fixxed mine to a T.

I am having this EXACT same issue. Whenever I try switching the resolution or switch to fullscreen the game goes black for a while then resets it the previous settings. When I go to the config file and manually change it, the game just stays black upon start up. Game will start fine in windowed mode also and I will use the alt+enter function to make it fullscreen and it just goes black. I'm just happy I finally got the game to work because it wasn't working at all for a long time, bnut its still annoying to be unable to play at max resolution or in full screen. Any tips appreciated!!

I don't know if anyone is still having this issue but mine does it too. While the black screen is up i hit Alt-Tab to desktop and back to the game and it works fine after that. I'll try the compatibility to Win 8 though too next time I'm on.

Forgot to update my comment so here you can laugh: One day I played around with my monitor settings and found an option called "Dynamic Contrast". It changes the brightness, contrast etc. of your monitor based on the screen. Turned out the game was so dark sometimes that it would change my contrast to 0 and so my screen would go black. Turned it down a bit (didn't want to toggle it off, 'cause I kinda like this function) and didn't get a single blackscreen anymore. So I was just being dumb and it wasn't the games fault. Maybe this will help you, guys. :steamfacepalm:

Found Solution***********
IF you are running Win 10, go to the steam folder where the game is, mine is E:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DDDA

Right click on the DDDA file and set comparability Win 7.
This works for me, with full screen enable and Vsync enable
