In your inventory, you need to use the EM tank item to actually fill it in your ship.
If you already did that, does any anmiation play when you try to jump or nothing happens?

The EM tank is full, All ToDos from the Tutorial Missions are completed and there is an animation and a Sound when the ship "jumps".
I've tried with and without the controller from normal and big picture mode. There was another thread where this issue was resolved by unplugging the Gamepad.... Didn't work here I'm afraid.

I haven't found much. The sound does play perhaps a smidge prematurely, so just keep pressing the buttons longer could so the trick, if you haven't tried that.
