Rewind-Bug-Design-Flaw
The game saves a rewind-gamestate whenever entering a new star system.
Jumping outside the safe jumprange as a last-resort-option may result in the ship taking critical damage and exploding before the game gets saved.
The rewind function would then load the game in which the ship immediately explodes.
The player is then unable to choose any other savegame to rewind to - for example the last pre-jump-encounter or similar.

A possible solution might be to only save the game to 'auto' on entering the system.
Whenever the game attempts to save to 'auto', it should first compare the current starsystem with the one of the 'rewind' file - if the dont match, the last auto should be copied to 'rewind', before progressing to the normal auto-save.

The way it seems to work now is, the game saves a rewind upon entering the system and there is no possibility to rewind to the last 'auto' or anything else.
Basically it is fine as it is now and no real bug, but the current workings can negate the purpose of picking 'adventure'-difficulty as it is now, since in the above described sitation, there is no real possibilit of a 'rollback' at all (and I doubt the majorit of players backs up the save files manualy in case the above happens).

Jumping outside the safe range should never destroy your ship but leave you with just a sliver of hull (there's special logic in place for that). If you're blowing up on arrival it must be something else, I think. Maybe an artifact on board that's causing damage?
(if you drop the savegame in our discord channel I can have a look)

Well... I checked it back then a few times, but the amount of HP upon entry was zero ( or at least there was not a single pixel of armor to be seen in neither the solar overview nor in the resources/repair screen).
The explosion happened maybe at most half a second after entry into the system, barely leaving any time to press the tabulator-key). I remember clearly playing on Melnorme and the system being one with a station, where I hoped to finally get some repairs done.
As far as I remember, the system had normal or low radiation, not being a pulsar or black hole, but I cannot guarante that 100%.
I cannot provide the savegame, since it was on my first playthrough and I did not keep any manual backup saves back then.
Should I ever experience this situation again, I will make sure to make a copy for you guys.

Didnt know you had a Discord channel, dont use that much any more, since it lags my PC a little.
Having developed only few 3-d engines and small games as a hobbymyself and participated in betatesting for some larger companies, might be interesting to drop by and say hello one day ^^

Well, high radiation and a lot of bad luck would be a possible explanation. Nothing else comes to my mind right now...
The discord link is stickied somwhere around here. It's not as busy as it used to be but we're still around for questions & extended bug reports.
