Playing again in 2023
So I played back in 2017 and beat the game and got a bunch of achievements, but just thought I'd throw out some opinions since I'm replaying the game.

The rogue like nature of the game would be improved if it followed the other rogue like games and have something that's kept or built up through multiple playthroughs. Right now there's nothing that makes the game easier which is really off putting.

The main themes of the game are at odds with one another. There's all this beautifully written lore that really makes you want to dig deeper into it, but the game is so unforgiving that if you don't beeline home from one system with minerals to the next you will lose. There's no practical way to explore.

Another thing about the exploration gameplay is too often your crew gets hurt without getting anything for it. You're really dissuaded from exploring at all and that's not very fun. As an example if I hotwire a wreck because I don't have a salvage kit and my guy gets burned at least give me something instead of just saying the door is locked forever.

Traveling through a system is too tedious. Fuel is too precious to just burn through it like crazy. So you really should be going slow, which is fine, but give us a time warp or something to speed it up. Too much play time is just waiting.

There really needed to be more than just the lander gameplay loop. This is at least half if not more of the gameplay. That could be fine if it was a bit deeper, but there's just too many things that can break without your control. The skill level cap is really low and I don't feel like getting better at it improves your chances of winning.

I want to add a big pet peeve of mine. I really dislike that there's a faction alliance type system. Its easy to be hostile with aliens, but almost impossible to improve from neutral. What's the point when you can't do multiple missions for someone. It feels really half baked.

The game, I think, is fun. I'd love to see a sequel that plays into the rogue elements more and allows the player to explore the world a bit more instead of feeling compelled to rush back to Sol.

very pertinent comments -- the bgm and detail designing of the game are attractive, but there are too many aspects to be improved in terms of gameplay. But as a game five years ago, it seems that the production team may not update it any more. such a pity.

yes i agree with u on the point of multiple playthroughs, would be nice to keep all the stuff you accumulated. it felt weird that you couldn't buy anything at the beginning but at the end you have all these credits.
as for the lore part, I don't think much can be done since sometimes exploring is dangerous and sometimes u get a big prize. it's tied to the items u happen to have in ur inventory. I agree with u on all points, and esp. when u say "at odds" since it seems like only priority is to "jet back to Sol".
