How do I mine?

Steam's new interface is beyond my comfort for now, and I can't figure out how to easily grab my uploaded screenshots. But my lander is directly below a mining spot and the spacebar mining button isn't glowing, so I can't do anything.
This is the second planet I've been at a mining spot on without being able to do anything. WTF do I do?

From the top of my head:
If it is a gas (blue icon) you need to hover in the cloud to absorb it.
If you are in movement, for example on a ice planet with high wind speeds or on a slope, boost downwards to fix you in place over the mining spot.
In steam's new library view, you can find the conventional screenshot manager on selecting a game and scrolling down, on the righthand side.

Thanks, I see it now.
Unfortunately the redesigners at Steam suck, and the only way to get screenshot URLs seems to be logging in to a browser and grabbing it that way:
