They never leave orbit.
Unlike all other NPC's the friendships never travel on their own. They only follow. and they only follow you. While that comes in handy when trying to detect wether a planet may be infected from afar, it also comes back to bite you here.
Mizzurani meet you. Mizzurani ask for new home. Mizzurani follow you and finally leave their orbit. Mizzurani see uninfected planet. Mizzurani crash into and infect.Mizzurani found new home.
From the outside - speaking lore wise here - it looks like you picked up the Mizzurani, and guided them right onto the doorstep of somebody else.
Mechanics wise it's part of the whole "lock you out of planets" stuff the mizzus have going on.
Seeds with the Mizzurani are usually considered harder. But one of the games major species quest is about them. Hint ahead you need Zoe for that quest
