I think it would mostly be useful for sculpting

There is a VR viewer in Blender already. You just need to enable it so you can walk through your scene preview.
Development on the VR mode is slow, but we have simple navigation controls.

I used to sculpt in vr years ago. It was super fun. I'd love to see blender do something like that.

There is a blender VR branch that also allowed authoring in vf...not sure what has become of that tho

It kinda died off after 2.8 was released. It was built for 2.7x and the dev apparently didn't have time to refactor everything for the new UI
