Nostalgia plays a bit in my rating, but not by much: consider it maybe a B- around 72% if it was not the case. As it is, The first 6 Megaman (or Rockman in Japan) are worth around 78%. If you never played such a game in your life and you are not put off by retro gaming or old looking games, you should definitely give this collection a chance: more than 6 years of classic platformer/shooter gaming, over 6 different games.

If you like the idea of understanding where traditional gameplay comes from, how gaming in arcade centers used to be, and why Mega Man, still to this day, should be considered like a classic of gaming history as much as Castlevania, Metroid, Sonic or Mario, this is your chance! Get this collection on sale, and give it a try. These games are quite easy, finishable in a day for most of them, integrate a new save system and even a Rewind feature for those who regret jumping in a pit or dying on spikes. I had the pleasure of finishing them all without such feature, and it was cool to rediscover (or discover from scratch in the case of Megaman 5 or 6) such neat games.

I am now on to play the second part of the collection, but if you are like me, you may want to look into Megaman X, the best design in the series. Megaman, classic japanese game design from 1990!
