Chinese/Japanese/Arabic etc. subtitles don't seem to work on linux
These three are just examples I guess it won't work for any language using special characters. I guess it's a font problem relating to unicode characters.

This may also be caused by my system config I guess would be nice to see someone else try to see if it works. I'm running Manjaro Linux system specs and graphics card driver shouldn't be important for this issue but can provide them if needed. Maybe I forgot to set something up?

I tinkered around for few hours trying to find the problem but I am not familiar enough with source development and modding to quickly find the problem it seems. I will try to boot a windows system and check if it works there but maybe someone finds out whats happening before I finish that as proton doesn't seem to work at all.

EDIT: tried it on windows and can confirm this only happens on linux

What distribution and DE? Have you tried changing the Locale to that of a given language that fails? Indeed seems like a font/encoding problem. Wine and proton may add to it as well
