It looks amazing, but plays badly. You would be lucky to call this game 'average', because gameplay is really underwhelming. Premise and presentation looks awesome. It's one of those cases of pretty shell and deeply disappointing interior where the best gameplay experience is by watching game trailer or other influencers hyping it up.

While game looks attractive and has great setting, it fails to deliver on everything else. If I would describe this game's gameplay as 'average', I would be quite generous. It's short, but manages to be repetitive. It has class variety, but only one is the best. It has combo moves, but button mashing is the most optimal way to play. It's just the worst type of mediocre game.

Lack of Variety
• Game doesn't have much variety in anything. Levels, enemies, weapons. A lot of assets are repeated and everything is stretched to the point it becomes just tiresome. Same backdrop will see wave after wave of enemies coming at you. All of them are spongy enemies who requires quite a lot of beating and then finishing. Any combat boost is just lost in the sea of enemies.
  
  Levels themselves can be original and fun. You will certainly appreciate some backgrounds and there is where most of game's creativity comes from. However, generic themes of a level is repeated for a really long time. Slum levels seem to never end.

  This game can be beaten in 5 hours. The fact that it felt so repetitive speaks volumes at how little it has inside. Game has references, good backgrounds. Some scenes are awesome. However, it then proceeds to generic side scroller with way to many enemies which makes game feel so tiresome.
  
  Combat
  
• Game gameplay is deep as a puddle. Throughout your entire game you will be stuck smashing light and heavy attacks. That's it. Any combos are too hard to pull off, puts you into disadvantage by locking you up in executing specific attacks which allows enemies to interupt you or simply fall down or disengage before you can pull them off. Payout from them is also miniscule. It doesn't seem to be signficantly more damaging overall than normal gameplay. Why bother with all of it when you can just button smash?
  
  Difficulty
  Another mark of a poor game. Difficulty curve in this game tends to spike tremendously at certain points. Either one scene just gets overloaded with enemies, often with guns. Or some boss which has way too many spawns or stages. Game tends to be really rocky with its difficulty where state to stage gameplay can feel easy and then suddenly you hit the brick wall. This is what happens when developers themselves don't play their own games from start to finish.
  
  Heroes
  
• There are four options, but their differences are negligible. You can pick advantages in speed and reach which are barely noticeable where in this game pure damage is all what matters. Game didn't put any effort in their combat and it shows. It's all just stat variations on a same gameplay loop which inevitably will favor most straightforward approach.
  
  Bots
  
• They are just useless. This game was designed to be played with 3-4 people. Probably then game wouldn't feel as tiresome and spongy as it does now. Player essentially have to play game designed for 4 people, but developers didn't adjusted challenge in any way (or at least meaningfully) and you are stuck doing 4 men challenge with 1 bot at best. In other words, bots are so bad that 3 of them is an equivalent of 1 player.
  
  Then the other problem is that they can't even do their main functions correctly. If you fall down, they might enter into infinite loop of ressurecting you and getting knocked back. Likewise, they lack any programming to do at least some combat effective moves on their own. Not even ramp up in statistics that at least they could drag the aggro and be a beating bags until you deal with everyone else.

Game's story is quite interesting. It's about your getting betrayed and getting caught in general population cull. You are transported into a research lab where you were experimented on with new drugs. These drugs give you high, but also act as combat stimulants. They are also very destructive on your body and incredibly addictive. You break out the lab and go on rampage. You want to get back at people who set you up, but you get caught up in revolution and go along to the core of the corruption. Taking on local gangs and climbing all the way up to heads of mafia and top politicians.

However, along the way you start fighting internal battle with Necro, substance which you were consuming. It turns out that combat stimulants in game and in lore is same Necro drug. Since you went on endless rampage, you were overdosing it massively. For days you were on combat drugs high with short periods of respite. In the final battle, you were so overdosed with this stuff that hallucinations returned and you started battling necro itself for the control of your body and independence. You managed to beat Necro and get an upper hand on your addiction.

As hallucinations faded away, you returned to sanity. You saw that you had absolutely destroyed hall you were in together with the final boss. As your sanity returned, your body couldn't cope with pressure from all that overdose you were subjecting your body to. All of your heroes died with hearts giving out, veins rupturing and blood pouring out. You were begging for help from your commrade who could offer nothing more than condolences as you were too far gone and help will never be able to reach them in time. Story, atmosphere, setting is certainly top notch in this game.

It took me 5 hours to complete this game and yet it felt such a long game. It speaks volumes at just how poorly it plays in single player. Game lacks care and attention when it comes to its gameplay. It's all about presentation, aesthetics, atmosphere. Sadly, that alone is not enough to carry the game. It's good enough co-op experience, bad as a single player game. It's shame also as it it looks amazing, just its gameplay for single player is really bad.
