Half-Life Deathmatch: Source

Half-Life Deathmatch: Source

Random crashes on Linux
I'm playing this game on Endeavour OS with Nvidia 560 drivers. I get to play the game for about 20-30 minutes until it crashes for absolutely no reason. Both this game and Half-Life 2 use Source which runs natively on Linux but I've had no such crashes on HL2. Does anyone have the same issue and does anyone know a fix?

It does the same for my windows computer too, its not just something happening on linux
Ok, it has gotten even worse: sometimes it only lets me play on a server for up to a couple of seconds before it crashes. I'm playing on ZEITGEIST with custom files blocked other than maps if that helps.

try logging out then back in, and allow all files as a potential fix

Idk what you mean by relogging. Like relogging every match or so? I don't want to allow all files because if you know, you know. I only play this game casually anyways so I don't care about losing out on points or anything so it's not a major issue.

logging out and then back in to your steam account, sorry if I did not make that clear also set it to only allow map files, no custom files that should prevent malware, sorry for the late response.

Yeah ;)
I have varied interests.

This game runs on the Source 2013 branch, same as CSS, DoD:S, etc and there are no publicly known RCEs if that's your worry. You're safe to allow downloads. Valve isn't quite as bad as other companies when it comes to maintaining the security of their older titles.

That being said, you should probably just play the GoldSrc version (which got a major update last year) or try running the Windows build via Proton.
