Non-combat? If you play Odyssey then Exobiology comes to mind, so long as you go far enough to scan undiscovered samples.

If you dont wanna get out of your ship for exobiology you can also detail-surface-scan water-Worlds, High metal content worlds or Ammonia worlds.

And instead of grinding your ass off, you just want to wait for some new events.
I remember when i made like 15b credits in like 3 days at the thargoid spire site.

Just get an exo-suit and start scanning plants.

According to Inara I made a billion credits off just doing that and I didn't even notice.
Now I'm exploring other corners of the game, but it was definitely a good boost.

Haha, SRVs definitely need some upgrades which would allow us to use the exo-scan thing from inside as well. Or just give us an operable drone, with which we can fly into canyons and scan with too and moves at the speed of the rover.

Exo biology, get yourself an arthemis suit a good ship a scarab and follow this.
you will get your FC in less than a month if you put in the time

This! There is a learning curve to it, so be patient with yourself. In particular, you want to learn to distinguish the good smooth teal color with high concentrations of your target, how to spot your targets from the air, when to give up and move on if your current target prove elusive.

Learn these and credits will be an afterthought for you.

exobiology is the easiest and cheapest to do even in the bubble 19 million a planet is fast money 2 planets or even 1 and you got a cobra mk 3 full a rated and then you can do anything. now going out 2K ly can make more money but it takes engineering to do it faster then discovered planets in the bubble. i just make 700m in 5 hours outside the bubble off of i think it was 12 planets.

I find that in-bubble exobiology makes credits far faster than new exploration. Granted, first finds give you 5 times the payout, but that is more than offset by the time spent getting to unexplored areas and then finding good candidates. OTOH fresh exploration, first footfalls, etc. is a bit more satisfying.
probably the same way you earned enough to get a fleet carrier in the first place

Getting out there and trying is the only real way. However, videos can speed it up a bit. This one helped me get started with Exobiology, though it is a bit slow (but somewhat entertaining) and now a bit dated*, the narrator does a good job of explaining things, and even guides on setting up some tools to help with the activity. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpZIcbSXkfU

*Back when the video was made, it was easier to get first finds on exobiology candidates using previously explored but not exploited system, but a lot of people have done this and they have been farmed quite a bit. IMO the Spansh EXomastery path will now be faster than what she recommends: https://www.spansh.co.uk/exobiology

Edit: Also for me, I generally set spansh to look for individual finds > 7 million credits as worthwhile. Generally, the times I give up on a target is when the land is excessively hilly, the targets are fairly rare, and after I've tried looking in a couple of spots.

Edit 2: Also, I recommend doing it in pieces, as it gets boring after a while. I will usually copy the list from spansh into notepad and save it as a text file. Then, go through systems until I get bored, break off and do other interesting stuff for a while, then go back to grinding credits. IMO Grinding is OK, but doing it to the point where you hate the game is problematic.

Exo is the way to earn fast $$$, in my Mandalay, it took me 4 months to earn my 5 billion and I got my FC. I did start out in the bubble, learned how to do it, made mistakes and learned a LOT along the way.

There are many, well made guides on how to do that (ask your favorite search buddy...), then practice ; once you have the theory from guides it really doesn't take long to become efficient. Best way is to use a small ship that can land everywhere, and skip the SRV. Just land, scan, take off, boost, land, scan... repeat ad nauseam.

Exobiology being covered, i'd suggest mining. Results may vary, but with a good rig and a bit of experience you can get some decent cash per hour. Compared to exobiology it is less profitable ofc, but then you don't need to go thousands of Ly away for several days doing the same thing.

Buy yourself a good mining ship - deep core or laser - and do that for an hour or two from time to time, with a podcast or music on the side-screen, phone or whatever. Chill. Credits will flow in without commiting yourself doing the same thing for a week. Then switch back to another type of mission.

Best advice was given earlier ; wait for a well paying community goal, and do that a lot. Spires were insane, rescue runs from Sol were also good and easy. I'm sure more of the same will happen sooner or later. In the meantime get your engineering and fleet ready so you can seize opportunities when then happen.

I made about 400mil each time I take an afternoon to do some exobiology. Can be frustrating and tedious though. Seriously, brown bioslime on brown dirt, with brown sky, that takes me a half hour to find all three... only to earn 5 million? >:| on the other hand... that same trip I got 2 near identical stratums that earned me 95 million each.
