Power Play: Concord Cannons?
Hi Cmdrs.

Is there a weekly or daily credit limit for earning in Power Play? Or can I 'farm' credits without a limit to rank up?

I have a single ship: A Krait MKII. I’m configuring it to be able to hit ships from a distance. Speed. Fighter hangar. Multicannons and long-range guns. And escape capability if things get ugly. I play some BGS on my own in non-disputed systems and participate in community missions where skill, intelligence, stealth, and capability allow me to evade PVP while playing the role of an independent who helps humanity from time to time. A role similar to Harrison Ford and his Millennium Falcon. Good.

The Concord Cannons are exactly the kind of guns I need. The projectile speed can reach 2600m/s once engineered. The problem: I’ve never done PowerPlay.

What’s the fastest way to get them? Or do I have to wait 4 months to get enough merits?

Just play PP and don't think about it.... If you're trying to speed run anything in elite, especially power play. You'll just become bitter

Thanks for replying. Let's see; I just want the guns. Buy them second-hand for an outrageous price if necessary, or with a 'illegal' mark that can't be erased or something like that. But none of that is possible...

I’d like to know how long it might take me to get them? Just to get an idea, you know...

I’m trying to figure out how long it will take me to go from rank 0 to rank 30 and something to get them.

You could do the guardian ruins and get the double engineered guardian plasma chargers.

I have yet to find an engaging enough PP 2.0 activity to make farming merits something I'm interested in for rank alone.

And with Hudson gone, I'm orphaned on having a power I want to succeed.
If some power had a group that didn't use discord and instead had something else as their hub I might get interested.

But back to your question, join a power play squadron, let it be known you're just wanting to get Concord Cannons and then won't care.
They will likely give you stuff to do and have a much better understanding of how it works then anyone can figure out on their own.

To actually answer OP's question. There is no cap on the merits you can earn as evidenced by the characters you will see on the leaderboard.

I have thoroughly tested concord cannons in pve combat with different engineering options, different builds in different scenarios.

They are good at dealing damage, but fantastic at blowing up power plants from up close. I recommend using short range engineering with autoloader experimental effect. It is also a good idea to have something to apply corrosive debuff when using them. Either a small frag or multicannon with corrosive EF.

They deal quite a lot of damage up close. Being a size 2 weapon they have better DPS than size 3 multicannon with same engineering. However they have better breaching chance and a lot more breaching damage (especially with short range engineering), which makes them one of the best power plant killers. Due the high dps for their size they also work good against shields. That makes them a good choice for primary guns on smaller ships such as the cobra MK V. They also shine as side arms on large ships replacing size 2 multicannons for example on corvettes or anacondas.

They are distributor friendly and don't need a lot of distributor power. Likely less than multi cannons of same size.

I would not go long range with them. At first that cripples their damage potential too much. But the main problem is that despite their high projectile speed, they miss too much at long distances when the terget is maneuvering. Because their gimbals are slow and shaky they also fail to hit power plants from longer distance, which means giving up their best advantage.

They also suffer from armor hardness being a size 2 kinetic weapon. Therefore corrosive debuff is a must have. It also good to apply emmissive munitions effect if possible as their gimbals are not very sticky and often tend to lose target without emmissive debuff on target.

Another disadvantage is they have short magazines. So you should be prepared for synthing ammo for them during battles, especially if you use them as your main guns against shields too.

My recommendation is use them up close with short range engineering and always target the power plant, then you will have a lot of fun with them. If possible use small weapons in other hard points to apply corrosive and if possible emissive.

That is the point of my comment... there is no way to give a "this much time" since it differs for everyone. If you are worried about time to get, you will be worried about 'grind', which will then annoy you.... Just play it and have fun with it. It would come sooner than you think

If you enjoy mining, then mining at a RES in a platinum hotspot in your power's region is a great way to get merits. Just get away from the pirates, about 20km out, and keep an eye on your radar to watch out for any that might wander. Don't go more than about 30km out, the amount of fragments you get will drop off (not sure where the boundary is exactly, it might be 25 km from the center of the RES).

Alternately, bounty hunting or doing power CZs (buggy, sometimes enemies don't spawn) can also net you a decent amount.

Some of the weekly tasks you can complete quickly and easily for a bump of merits.
