The ships from your list that I'd rather not live without are the DBX, T8, Python, and Krait. But no need for an Asp if you've got a DBX.
I have different builds for laser and core mining, not only in terms of hardpoints, but also as optional internals, so I have a python for laser mining and a Krait MK II for core.
I'm too lazy to check their stats, but most times I've read about people having ships for storing modules, I think they mostly used the Type-10.
I don't like the DBX design, so I built one as a taxi with the longest jump range possible, not even being able to boost (maybe I got too far with that). Instead, before getting the Mandalay, my fav explorer is the ASPX. Being a medium size ship, sometimes it's harder finding a place to land and is slow to stop when you're searching exobio flying low and you see that stupid bacterium just as soon as you pass it by, but upgrading from a size 4 fuel scoop to a size 6 one is glorious, specially since the sco chugs a lots.
I dont own a lot of ships I downsized my fleet.
I currently own
Federal Corvette for conflict zones and power play
Mamba and FDL for fun in res sites.
Mandalay for exo biology
Type 8 for any hauling/mining i might need to do.
I use to own almost every ship, i'd use the imperial eagle for giggles racing the caverns of planets.
There is their intended use then there is what you enjoy using them for. For instance I use to enjoy using my Vette as a miner and it was amazing at it.

That's all I have now. Simply no real need for anything else, not for how I like to bumble about.
This is why I'm glad they upped the module storage from 200 to 600. I hate having multiple of the same ships, much prefer to have the ships I enjoy flying and just swap out modules based on what I want to do at the time.
Oh, wait, that's not a burning desire, that's thrush!
- Mandalay - Exploration, taxi, small scale transport, basically everything that can be done without combat and/or with up to 25 tons of cargo space.
- FDL - Standard [i.e. non-AX] combat
- Python II - Ex-titan bomber, currently retrofitted for general AX combat.
- Imperial Cutter - Need to haul stuff or mine? this is my ship.
- Anaconda - screwing around long-range with multiple SRVs and Fighters, just so I can bring multiple friends for exploration if we decide to do just that.
Though tbh outside of utility ships [above] I sometimes buy and fit whatever a ship I may fancy at that point in time. Access to Shinrarta helps for that purpose.

- @everysingletime That is impressive speed. What do you do with it?
- @(kind soul who's post dissapeared) - I should have bookmarked your Inara link. That was an impressive and well organized fleet with clearly defined roles. I was planning on plagiarizing some of your builds.
- @cswigger I'm open to getting and kitting out a Vulture, but is there utility to it? I get the thrill of small ship combat by getting out in a fighter and letting the hired pilot run the main ship. I also don't have to run back to the CZ/res site when I inevitably get popped.
- @cswigger I've long considered getting an FDL, but I'm now reading that the Python MK II is edging it out as the Medium sized combat Meta. I bought the Python MK II with the idea that this will eventually become my medium sized general combat ship, and the Krait would be my AX ship.
- @cswigger I like the DBX for exo-biology because of it's smaller landing footprint and longer range, but the ASPX has a bit more room for modules which can come in handy. I suspect the Mandalay will supersede the AspX for long range exploration where self repair is handy, and the Cobra MK V will replace the ASPX as all-around bubble taxi/Odyssey mission hopper.
- @cswigger For passenger missions I just swap out the modules on my Type 8 or Type 9 (depending on pad size). Dedicated passenger ships would be a nice addition and eliminate module swapping. Depending upon how tedious material gathering is since the revamp, I may add passenger specialized ships in the near future.
- @Eruannon & @XOLID The Cutter does appear to be the Meta for platinum mining, and it is slightly better for hauling in a lot of situations (but my Type 9 is already fully kitted out). I will likely eventually get around to adding one.
- @Un1k0rn, @sillywalk, & @sighman I've seen lots of people mentioned the Cobra MK V as a the best choice for all-around ship. I'm assuming that this is something like what I currently use my AspX for in the bubble.
- @zombiehunter & @Agony_Aunt - While expecting a single ship to fulfill every role is unrealistic, I don't think my sanity would withstand the process of kitting out every single ship in the game.
-@Eruannaon - Nice tight fleet there.
Maybe you don't want to take on a high CZ/res site by yourself, but if you find and assist a friendly in a medium or heavy ship, you can help finish off kills and/or act as a wingman.
Eh, maybe? There's no question that the Python II is better at combat compared to the Python, but that doesn't make it better than the FDL.
Their stats are fairly comparable, but the FDL is ~200 tons lighter so it will be a bit more agile-- that size-6 slot for the Python II has tradeoffs. And while the Python has more hardpoints, that huge/size 4 hardpoint on the FDL and Mamba can output some serious damage.
I found the DBX able to hold everything I wanted-- fuel scoop, shield, surface scanner, vehicle hanger, etc to do exobio, exploration, and long-range travel-- with 24 cargo.
What are you putting on the ASPX that you couldn't fit on the DBX?
Probably, although I won't judge those two until I can fly them.
Sure, the T8 does just fine for evac missions, but you can't fit luxury cabins onto anything but the Saud-Kruger ships. For doing tourist runs, you often won't want to take more than one or maybe two groups at a time, anyways. So you can mix luxury pax transport or tourist missions with surface scanning the systems you visit and even add a vehicle hanger if you are feeling frisky.
