Odyssey materials
Is there a comprehensive list of which Odyssey materials are used for upgrading and modifying suits and weapons? I used to pick up everything and just realized that my storage is almost full, so I want to clear out the things I don't need to make room for the stuff I do need.

I know neither of us are particularly fond of 3rd party tools but in this case, Inara will cover your needs: https://inara.cz/elite/components/#tab_items

Anything in grey currently has no known uses other than to serve as vendor trash.

There is a tool called Odyssey Material Helper that does all that and even more.
If you run the game in windowed mode this tool can even highlight needed materials in the game menues.

Fun fact: all the things Frontier fixed in Horizions to make the material grind less anoying was left out of Odyssey - either by stupidity or malice.

Can't imagine being so salty over something that is currently not true being pleasant.
-unless you're talking about the state of the game years ago in which case that's not better.

OP quite a few on foot missions often pay out Odyssey materials in the tens, so it is a fairly quick and easy way to farm them. -do take notice if the missions are not legal; not always fun. XD

To add to this, don't forget on that page to the upper right is the "View Blueprints" button, then "Personal Equipment" button you can see ALL the modifications / upgrades, and even create Crafting Lists to keep track of whether you have the required materials or not.

Crafting lists Fall under the "Commander" Menu on the Inara Main menu. You will need an account to create a crafting list so it can read your API and get all your material information, etc.

Negotiating with NPCs in the concourse can double the material rewards too. E.g. 28 Manufacturing Instructions from one mission.

The main reason I don't do NPC missions is they don't tell me in advance what the reward is. I might get twice the materials, but if those materials are useless, it's not much of a reward.

🤣🤣 Dude deleted his comment fast

You can see the mission details which show you

How do you know what the rewards are? When I talk to them they just say what they want done.

Go to 1:00 in this video, it shows "details" and "Mission Rewards". Most of them are like this.

Thanks, I actually laughed at this! I never got past give me the details dialog, never noticed I could ask what it pays.

Edit: Just went to a station to check it out. However, it looks like the material pay is a bit lower than what I can find on the board and the missions are all illegal to boot. Still, its good to know.

Negotiation can also leading to the replacement of materials by more credits.

So how do you pin Odyssey mod blueprints?
How do you barter Odyssey materials like Manufacturing Instructions for Weapon Plans?
Did Frontier increased the small material storage for Odyssey as they did increase the small material storage for Horizions?

Alright, this looks like the closest thing to what I want. Thanks.

As you said, I don't really want to use 3rd party tools . I was hoping for a list I could write down in my notebook, but I'll have to make my own I guess. Maybe when I do, I'll write a guide... or send it to Sighman and let him write it.

I manage to play without them more than 95% of the time, but I don't have anything against those who rely on them.

This is not true, actually. They addressed it for Odyssey as well. Not only can you get a large amount of them as rewards, they've tweaked requirements for upgrades. Notably, you don't need to find power regulators for upgrades anymore, which is fantastic.

Thanks, that helped too. Now I have a list in my notebook I can refer too... there were quite a few more things on there than I expected though, so it might be a bit trickier to make space than I expected, heh. I'm sure there's some stuff I can get rid of though. I need to make some space, so worst case scenario I'll just dump most of the more common things like memory chips.
