Professor Palin Sensor Fragments
Hello CMDRs!
According to "ED Odyssey Materials Helper" I should find the "Sensor Fragments" for Professor Palin at HIP 14479, floating in the ether in some "Unknown Artifacts" thread 4 which I should break by gently shooting. I have scanned the entire system with the "Full Spectrum System Scanner" but have nothing but signals of spaceships in pieces "thread 0" from which I recover copper wire and switches and other hardware that I could find in the basement of my house.
Can you help me?
And do I need the rover, the land vehicle? I thought not but from some videos I've seen on YouTube it seems so.

They can also be found on the surfaces of planets which require a detailed surface scanner to find; they will be listed as "Non-Human Signal Source", aka NHSS.
Threat level is always 0. -if you find one that isn't, avoid it unless you have AX experience.

They've not been referred to as unknown artefacts for years. Whatever you're reading, it's old. But they do exist: They're now called Thargoid Sensors

You're better off going to Thargoid crash sites. There will will be sensor fragments littered around these.

I think there's a list of them on Canonn's website.

Alternatively, if you've got the credits to burn, someone might be selling Thargoid Sensors from their carrier.

If so, just buy some, fly a little distance from the carrier, drop them out of your cargo, and destroy them for the fragments.

There are also thargoid sensors in Cocijo's remains; I don't know if it's the fastest way besides burning money, but it feels the most convenient one for me.

Good to know, thank you.

I've not actually bothered visiting yet.

Thanks CMDRs,
I will follow the guidelines.
One last question. If I decide to assemble an anti-Targoid ship before, rather than after, unlocking Professor Palin, and manage to destroy one or more of them in the systems they occupy, I would find the fragments Professor Palin wants in the carcass of the Targoid I destroyed?
PS
On my first trip to BLAA HYPAI EU-D C13-0 (never been that far) I raised more than 250 million credits, and so I have about 1000 million in total to spend if needed, but I'd rather find the sensors more than buying them, whatever the way.

Thargoids themselves won't drop sensor fragments, only sensors do that.

Both Canonn, EDASTRO and EDSMC have lists of sites.

Canonn:

(note that you need to use the checkboxes on the left to filter; it can be finicky)
