Hey Pilots, i was wondering if i am missing out on not having played for so many years since this games release. Am i too far behind to really engage in big pve or pvp content? I understand I would be behind if i were starting fresh from a new save but how long would it take to "catchup"? Is this a big thing to worry about and i need to be prepared to grind like crazy and for a long time or is it just not possible to catchup and i have to just find my own fun/pace and not worry about it anyhow?

there is no end game, its all open so you arent really far from the end as there just isnt one.

Engineering has been made easier, so you only missed out on long tedious grinds. you missed out on the titans, but the stuff they influenced is still in game.

The only one to catch up with is yourself. you set your own pace. just set goals and work towards them. bigger better ships, fleet carrier etc

There is no falling behind. If you are really dedicated you can achieve all the content in a short amount of time, less than a month. Eventually you will have so much money you wont know what to do with it all. The grind was reduced for Engineering a good deal as well.
Jump in, there is only "events" you're missing out on which is not main game if you don't want it to be, its self discovery and self career. I rejoined the game before the new year by wiping my account progression starting fresh since i only had a handful of a million and nothing else.

You are not "far behind" you just have more content in front of you to explore and decide if you want to go for it, I am going through the ranks of Imperials then going through the ranks of the feds, while in between racking up money to get a carrier and they're going to add more things in the year.

Just dive in and you'll be ready for the next big event.

The Titans are a collection of bits and pieces right now. You can visit, scrape some materials, dodge pirates and even run into interceptors there.

but they are inactive ships youre saying?

Titans are gigantic alien motherships. As of right now, all the ones we know of have been blown up and the aliens are no longer actively warring on systems.

I believe you can still find smaller alien ships to fight, but the big mothership battles are (at the moment) unavailable until they decide to try again.
