My first Powerplay grinding gripe...
Ok...power weekly mission....scan Megaships in Reinforcement systems. First I had to figure out that it was Exploited-Reinforcement systems. Fortified-Reinforcement systems appear to be a no-go...still learning, no problem.

So since I'm not interested in randomly jumping into the Exploited-Reinforcement systems for a crap shoot finding Megaships, I used Inara to locate the Megaships list, and used Inara again to locate my power systems and their state (Exploited-Reinforcing), bounced the first list (Megaship location) starting with the closest Megaship system against the second list (Power systems-Exploited), and once I found a match, bounce that against the Power tab in right panel on they power system map. If they jive, look at the system to verify it's Exploited-Reinforcement.

So head to the system, honk first, then hit the Nav Beacon. Unfortunately, no joy. So had to go to the FSS, and this was a system with 20 bodies. Took me about 5-10 minutes, and finally found the Megaship, proceeded there, scanned the ship, and scanned the two ship log links, for a total of 2 out of the 8 required.

I've never been one to complain about grinding, and I don't mind doing this. I get the scenario, they want to know who's in that system and what they're up to, to build a database and track these potential neer do wells.

But it appears I'm going to have to do that process 4 times to get 8 scans. Of course, I could search and dig a little deeper and find a system that has 2 Megaships or more to lighten the workload.

But is it just me, or does maybe that needs to be cut down to 4 (2 ships x 2 logs each).

I want to get in the habit of completing the weekly grind, but not sure if even I have the patience to repeat this process 4 times.

I'm trying to "spread out the grind" like I do with other grinds / find a way to make it less of a grind, but this one is REALLY going to annoy me, I think.

Is there a better way of doing this? I understand sometimes you luck out and get the Megaship with the Nav Beacon scan, but that's going to be hit and miss, no?

Got my first megaship scan weekly today.

The only system Inara gave me was Munshin and it was in the Fortified-Reinforcement state. Got my first out of eleven scans just now, scanned the ship and it's log uplink with data scanner. Exploited, Fortified and Stronghold states = Reinforcement state. They are different levels of reinforcement achieved by a power in a system.

I guess it's exploration casino time for me now. eh?

UPD: yep, it's exploration casino. Thanks for sharing how to do this

I use Inara, jump into suitable systems, hit up the nav beacon. If a megaship doesn't reveal itself I jump to the next system.

I've scanned maybe 50 megaships as part of my weeklies since PP began.
I just hit a system with 10 High grade emissions it it.

I think I've won the casino. This weekly is dope.

Yep and they spawn over 200 G5 materials each.

In the previous PP daily tasks, i completed the megaships scans last and boy was it really last; completed the last scan by the last minute before the server maintenance. I was running out of time, thought i couldn't make it but persevered tenaciously till the very last minute with no time to dock - just exit to the main menu next to the megaship.

The above song played in my mind when i was vacillating between giving up and giving it all.

It took me so long because i changed ships from Sidewinder to Eagle and finally the Viper Mk III. Never did megaship missions before PP 2.0 except a few times from the mission boards along time ago. It was dangerous; got attacked after the scans. I thought this was going to dangerous too, that's why i started in the Sidewinder. I thought a smaller ships can avoid detection better. Turns out it wasn't necessary this time and my ships weren't running sufficiently cold to avoid detection. They were running only below 30% heat; not very good i suppose.

I found only 1 megaship at the first 5 systems because i was looking for low security ones. Yeah that took a lot of time looking for them in the galaxy map and flying to each system. A few have no megaship in them. Finally i look into medium security ones. In 1 system there was 2 but i needed 3 more and time was running out. So i decided to go for the big ones; high security with high populations - in the Viper. I got lucky found one with 3 mega.

Got to work real fast, fly right, no mistakes. Actually made 1 mistake and crashed into the comm array. Luckily it wasn't so bad; didn't deplete my shields and didn't bounce too much. Scanned and boost to the next and the next. Made it with only seconds to spare. In my mind i thought there should be an achievement for 'completion by a hair'.
