But to answer your question. It happens a lot that game reviewers give harsh reviews and and steam reviewers love it. They are looking at the quality while players are looking at the fun factor. Thoose two things are different. I myself have played games I would only give 6 out of 10, but which I still enjoyed.
I also get a feeling it was broken at release.
Well...we never aimed to be pleasing to game reviewers, they tend to expect inovation above all and we just wanted to do an retro and oldstyle game. Some reviewers noticed that and gave us good grades (80 and 74), but...unfortunatly for us... one of the most influential sites that featured GKE chose a reviewer that was expecting something different and dind't quite get the game (giving us a 30 score). Just so you understand how this affected us...Destructoid (where the review in question was published) has double value when applying the avarage on Metacritic hence the low score.
The game wasn't broke on the release.. but it was badly balanced. This was fixed on the 4th day after release...but the damage was already done.
But...all this was a learning experince, we will try not to make these mistakes on next releases. My opinion is... if you got interested by the game, watch some videos and try it out... if you don't like it you can refund it. Just please...don't make the decision based on one or two bad opinions. We really hope you enjoy the game as much as we do :D.
Cheers!
I saw game on steamgifts (I prefer to learn about new games this way over "list of recomendations"), got interested, but that score made me question it, as there suppouse to be the reason to crush game's score. Like gamers dropped Bethesda's games scores after those added payed mods the hard way.
I am honestly not surprised. That "reviewer" is more infamous for clickbait "edgy trash the game" review most of the time than actual "reviews" =P
And this ladies and gentlemen is why Metacritic should be used as just one of many tools ie. a way to check various reviews under one page for various opinions as opposed to "the gold standard" review score to use... it's so easy to skew the final score just because 1 or 2 reviewers don't like a game =P
Ignore it, ignore the harsh reviews seriously its like they did not even play half the game, even the negative reviews here on steam dont even realize you get new weapons and you can upgrade them.
please apologize my english
