Strangest thing

Hi,
first of all I've been playing this game for over 20 years now - love every bit of it.
Today the strangest thing happened for the first time - I've killed the second scout mission boss (the yellow rotating star thing) with a strange single satelite hit while it still had it's two homing "missiles" attached. It was doing it's around the screen motion (Admiral difficulty) and I thought I was a goner. The hit took him from about 50% to 0% health in one hit. Sadly I didn't record this.
Has anything like this happened to anyone before? Didn't see it in any of the gameplay on youtube.

that boss is bloody annoying to deal with for me, and ive never heard about that glitch before so im even more scared in knowing of that.
