What are "123's"?
I keep seeing a recurring theme in posts about about "The 123's"
Then there is a level 0 private steam account called 123 who replies?

But now i'm thinking there are many 123's with the same profile picture and private accounts?

So what exactly is this about?

Basically its a pvp tactic to stay under the radar so other players dont know which player is who.

i'm geussing so all the hacks and exploits a large number of PvPers do is much harder to report on?

This and a bit more,

They cross transfer servers, raid off-line tribes, and they can't be traced back to their "home ark server" since 123 is a generic name that doesn't allow home server location.

the "alpha tribe of cowards" is what they basically are.

While it is a "pvp tactic" that works for Ark, it needs to be addressed to allow retaliation against the cowards of PVP raiding

more case its harder to tell when a tribes online or not since can get join notifications which announce to server when a steam account tries connecting to it

Its because all the major alpha tribes use the battlemetrics website to track anyone who attacks them. When everyone uses the 123 name that is nearly impossible to track what server they are from so people can basically hit and run. Many people will only use the name when raiding. Others which constantly use the name are probably just very suspicious or cheaters or their tribe leader forces them to always use the name like one of my former tribes.

Yea I thought it was foolish to do 123 but then I heard about players being tracked online. It's a game, no reason to stalk ppl online cause of PvP.
Natjur 18 Jul, 2017 @ 2:18pm
The problem is sites like https://www.battlemetrics.com/ can be used to track a steam name. So if you raid server X and the player knows you are steam name is Y, they can search player Y on the web and find the server your currently on and come pay you back. But if everyone has the same name (123) the search shows 1000 players of that name and you can't be tracked.

I can understand those that are getting hunted over many many servers. They run away cause they did something stupid and Alpha Tribe Z keeps transferring over to what ever server that player is on and wiping them day after day. I can see they have a reason to hide....but in general....

So because myself and others dont want to be tracked by people using a THIRD PARTY SITE, it is a cowardly move eh?

Im not a duper, exploiter, ect. I just dont want Joe Shmoe to follow me home without killing my dinos to see the server number. If they see my number on my dino, they earned it.

Edit: Not part of a mega/alpha tribe either.

when i was on https://www.battlemetrics.com/ checking on my dead server rag 50 i noticed a trend that 123 was logging 3000 or so hours on most rag and other servers and log into multiple servers at once having number one spot for hours logged

Because dozens of people are named that way and battlemetrics thinks it's 1 person

Short version - it is a tactic used by hackers, dupers and offline raiders that some have adapted for other uses without considering the ramifications to their reputation for following in the footsteps of the guilty

My story is simple. My server got raided, the raiders promised to track down and follow every single one of us and wipe us over and over again to make sure we can't get revenge. It wasn't an empty threat either because shortly after they did just that. Hence I did what they were doing. Hiding.

Why would they follow you specifically to other servers if you don't do anything?

I even know someone on a PvE-Server that needed to change to 123 because the person kept getting harrassed and stalked by some psycho (WC did not take action when contacted via support and it went on for monthes). Changing to 123 made it possible for that person to join a new server and be free of the stalker.
