Hi Vodkaandcoke123! That's so strange - as you noted, the click-turn feature should be the default setting and, given that it is showing as being selected in the options menu, it should work simply by using the trackpad. We're not sure why it isn't working but would be happy to see if we can help figure it out.

If you haven't done so already, try turning the option off and playing for a few moments to see if anything feels different. Then, if the turning still feels the same, go back and turn the option back on to see if that re-activates the click-turn future.

If that doesn't work, try restarting the game to see if it kicks-in then. If that still doesn't do the trick, let us know and we'd be happy to dig in further.

Thanks for the reply, Have tried everything i can think of and can still not get it to work. Turned off/on click turn restarting the game each time did not make a difference. Even reinstalled it, nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

That's super strange and thanks for trying all that! We've never encountered anything quite like this and are happy to see if we can figure out what's going on. We'd like to start by looking at your DirectX Diagnostic Report and the Nevermind Output Log. To find each file, please follow the steps below:

1.) DirectX Diagnostic Report
  1. Hold down the "Windows" and R keys to bring up the "Run" dialog window.
  2. Type "dxdiag" into the "Run window" and hit okay.
  3. A window should pop up called the "DirectX Diagnostic Tool"
  4. In that window, in the bottom left, there should be a button labeled "Save All Information"
  5. Click the "Save All Information" button and save the resulting "DxDiag.txt" file to a known location on your computer.
  6. Please send that "DxDiag.txt" file to support@nevermindgame.com

2.) Output Log
  1. Open Steam and go to your Library.
  2. Right-click on Nevermind and select Properties.
  3. Click on the Local Files tab and then select “Browse Local Files…”
  4. Open the folder “Nevermind_Data”. The file we’d like to look at is called “output_log.txt”
  5. Please send the output_log.txt file to support@nevermindgame.com

Thanks and our apologies that you're experiencing this!

Hi, I just picked up this game to play with a HTC Vive Pro and I also cannot snap turn or smooth turn, despite it being set in the options. I've tried turning it off/on reloading the game etc. but no joy. Both controllers only move forward/backward/strafe. I get that I can turn physically in the room but with a wire attached to the headset it's too easy to get tangled up. Is there any thing I can try because at the moment it's not really playable for me :(

Our apologies for not having updated this thread earlier. To our embarrassment, we misunderstood the original issue.

Due to the nature of the Vive wands, there is actually no click-turn associated with them directly in Nevermind at this time, unfortunately. However, click-turn will work when played with a traditional gamepad controller, such as an Xbox One controller for example. When played with a traditional gamepad, click-turn functionality should be available for the joystick.

We originally ran into some issues with adding snap turn to the Vive wands when we looked into it a few years ago. However, now that we know that there is interest in it, we'll look into it again when we start planning the next update for the game (which is currently TBD).

Our apologies for the confusion and we appreciate everyone letting us know that this is an important feature that they'd like to see in Nevermind! Feedback like that is always helpful and appreciated!

Index Controller also doesn't turn, both thumb sticks just move forward / back and strafe, and they just echo the trackpad. Cheers.

That's helpful to know about the Index Controllers, thanks for letting us know, Franc Kaos! We'll add that to the list of things we want to tackle in our next update.

We're not yet sure when that might be, but we're working towards finding a way to do a big update in the future that addresses this (and many of the other) issues and suggestions that have come up since the game's last update.

Again, we really appreciate information and feedback like this - please keep it coming! <3

More than 2 years later, any news on the Valve Index turn capability?
NevermindGame  [developer] 30 Sep, 2021 @ 8:41pm
This, like many features and upgrades we continue to hope to add to the game, will need to wait until Nevermind's next major update. Unfortunately, we currently cannot promise if/when that may happen.

Thanks for the response anyway. That will make the game so much better. BTW, I tested on Linux and apart for the turning issue, it works perfectly. Sent a report to protondb to allow Linux gamers know that they can buy your game.

We 100% agree about the turning being a big improvement. Fingers crossed that we'll be able to make it and other upgrades a reality at some point! In the meantime, that's wonderful to hear about Nevermind mostly working on Linux! Thank you so much for testing that and letting us know. And, of course, thank you for spreading the word - that means a lot to us!!

Came to say that there is still interests in a big update for this game! I think the biggest issue with it is the inability to use click turn (currently using the Index on a Windows PC). Might you guys have any plans to update the game at this point?

Yeah, hope this game's development hasn't stalled.

Thanks for checking in PigQueenGen_TTV and Patola [Linux]. For the time being, development has, unfortunately, been put on pause. We really hope to revisit it in some capacity at some point. However, as of right now, we don't have a timeline for when that might be.
