Its been a while since I have played, however can you not change the key selection. You might need to remap the functions.

Well, I finally gave up.

not a fix, but if you mash escape, press the left mouse button and then keep holding ESC you can use the pause menu.

Looks like the same problem as Postal 2.

Odd I never had that issue in Postal 2 either. Again have you tried to remap keys?

Since this is happening in two games, a bit of a long shot. Are you using the same keyboard and is it a gaming one? Some come with their own software which could overide the games controls.

So if your game is trying to use the esc for one thing and your 3rd party gaming software is trying to use the esc key for another, they could be conflicting, causing your issue.

This is the only problem I had with Postal 2, but unlike Alpha Protocol, the Alpha Protocol ESC is judged as a double-click in its entirety. For example, when you go into graphics settings, clicking ESC will send you back to the main menu instead of settings, this is why the Pause Menu can not be displayed. But Postal 2 just doesn't display the Pause Menu properly.

I finally found a solution. This is due to the Chinese input method, only need to switch to English input method.
