This is an absurd game.

Some of what drags down the quality of this game is the English translation. While I live forever in awe of bilingual people, I still believe that if the dev can't translate to a professional level for their commercial product, they should hire a translator. The text (which, let's face it, is a MAJOR component of a VN) is absolutely riddled with translation errors, poor grammar, and typos. It's passable enough to follow the story, but definitely not polished enough to be a saleable product.

The writing has other issues, however. The prose frequently rambles, leading to long run-on sentences that are the hallmark of an inexperienced author. The characters are LAUGHABLY bad. They are caricatures that bear no semblance to actual human beings, but there's also no hint of satire. The author attempts to tell a story from a villain's point of view, without any of the finesse of other writers in that genre. Instead of providing social commentary, the writing comes across as memoir of a cartoon moustache-twirling villain set in the modern incel era. The victim, who we are apparently supposed to sympathise with, behaves in an abhorrent but simultaneously laughable manner (again with the absurd caricatures). Unsure of whether this story wants to present itself as a revenge fantasy or not, the author fails to give the victim redeeming qualities to help the audience side with her. There's an attempt (?) at giving her more depth at the mention of her having bipolar disorder, but this seems like it would be a slap in the face to anyone who suffers from such a disorder. Apparently people who suffer from BPD are completely disinterested in their surroundings, even when in mortal danger, and then exhibit rage-induced uncontrollable bloodlust. AWESOME message.

While the characters are absolutely the nail in the coffin of this VN, they're by no means the last of the problems.

This VN can't even keep its story straight. In one scene, someone is missing a body part, in another it has miraculously returned. The narrative is full of inconsistencies. You are given precisely ONE opportunity to make a choice in this game, which takes you to three possible endings. Two of those endings aren't even consistent with the information provided in the lead up to that point. The "true" ending is broadcasted loudly as it's the only ending that lasts longer than a few sentences, and is the only ending consistent with earlier information.

This VN also didn't know how to wrap things up in an effective denouement. Instead of a tight finish after the climax, the story rambles on for no real gain. We start "head hopping" (ie rapidly changing the narrating character). Where other VNs do this in a logical fashion and they do it to gain important perspectives, this VN seems to do it haphazardly, with no apparent reason other than to keep the story lumbering on past its expiry date. The only reasoning I can gather is the author was trying (way too late) to set up characters for following episodes, but without the proper set-up it seemed jarring, like it was tacked on as an afterthought.

The visuals (or lack there-of) also let this game down. The backgrounds, which are photos run through a filter, can be forgiven as common to this genre of game. The problem with the visuals comes down to the fact there are so few of them. A large portion of the game is spent looking at text placed awkwardly on a black screen. While other VN's do this to indicate deeper thoughts or pivotal moments, this VN seems to implement black screens at random, presumably because the budget or time-frame didn't allow for art for those scenes (or portions of scenes).

The music seems overly dramatic for the writing, and this is mainly due to the absurd quality I talked about earlier. I'm sitting here laughing at these cartoon-like characters, and suddenly this dramatic movie-style music blares. It was like the game was trying very, VERY hard to be serious, and just failing miserably.

I would normally ask for a refund for a game this laughably bad, but at a price-tag this cheap, consider it a tip to whoever drew the character sprites.
