Substance 3D Painter 2025

Substance 3D Painter 2025

Cannot Launch on Fedora 41
As it appears for many other Linux users, Substance 2025 does not launch on Fedora 41. If you launch with steam runtime 1.0 Scout, it says we are missing a library, that being librotlidec.so.1. My version of Fedora does have it which is darn weird. I also tried launching with the Legacy runtime and now it says I am missing Libtiff. I also remember seeing 2024 working just fine before, so I am weirded out by that too. I have been using Substance for years and just recently switch to Linux and want to integrate it with Maya and Blender, and this is profoundly disappointing.

Adobe please fix this. Thank you.

Fixed it! Here's how to fix it. You will need to launch with the legacy runtime, and you need to make a symlink to libtiff much like the fix for Autodesk Maya on fedora 41. Enter this command to make the symlink

sudo ln -s /usr/lib64/libtiff.so.6 ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/'Substance 3D Painter 2025'/libtiff.so.5
cd 19 Jun @ 6:45pm
I was about 20 minutes away from refunding this and going back to 2022. I'm not sure I fully understand this bug. Is it just that Substance is looking for exactly libtiff5 and the version in rpm is above that?
I think that is the case. Kinda like with Maya, I think this is not a bug. Enterprise Linux 9 which most DCCs are developed for still use libtiff5 not 6 and require that library to function. Kinda wired but at least we can get around it
This worked, thank you Chris, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thank you
