I bought this game like 11 years ago and I didn't need an online service to play it out of the box, but now if I buy it on Steam I can't play it without a Ubisoft Connect account?

♥♥♥♥ you Ubisoft, and ♥♥♥♥ your rebranded Uplay trash, I wish your company would go bankrupt.

You can probably still play it without Ubisoft Connect: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=703553959

If you try that and it doesn't work, please let me know.
