Be aware this is a SINGLE PLAYER GAME, when you co-op only the host gets progress, upgrades, skills, passives, ect. The joining player does not get any upgrades, and is forced to play as a level 0 base stats no matter how far you progress into the game.

The game is a massive grind with the levels, once you've gotten the basics, being pretty boring. But then there's the difficulty spike with the spider boss that is insane. And then you have to grind all the way to it just to try again and even get a try to get the hang of it.

This continues on in the game, either it's completely trivial or they give you bosses that have 2 pixels you can stand on while dodging enemies where their massive aoes don't hit you. It's a super pretty game but had zero play testing

On top of this you get locked into ONLY this mission being available, and the fatigue mechanic has effectively locked one the one family member that might be good for this boss.

It's real bad design in an otherwise interesting game.
Get some other roguelike

Edit: oh and the upgrades feel like you're adding almost no degree of benefit to the characters. The only things that seem to matter are skill upgrades but it's *very* slow.

The game is riddled with bugs. When playing with friends, you never know if it’s even possible to finish a round due to constant network issues, crashes, disconnects, and the inability to reconnect. I wouldn’t recommend buying this until many of these problems are fixed. Its a shame tho because its quite a good playing experience.

I played Children of Morta with a friend, and we finished it in about 9.3 hours — and honestly, it was great from start to finish.

The story is super engaging and told in a way that really pulls you in. The Bergson family is full of interesting characters, each with their own unique playstyle that keeps things fresh.

The co-op works really well — smooth, responsive, and it actually feels like both players matter. Combat is satisfying, the pixel art is gorgeous, and the soundtrack fits the mood perfectly.

If you like emotional stories mixed with fun dungeon-crawling action, definitely give this one a shot — it’s even better with a friend.

I highly recommend it — especially if you can play with a friend.

IF you are looking to fill the rogue-like void after playing Hades, this game ain't gonna do it.
Story is boring, most of the characters have not that good of a gameplay and during progression every upgrade feels ... underwhelming and not very impactful.
Not worth even the 5 € price-tag.

Stuttering and laggy badly coded mess on both switch and pc

The game is masterfully crafted. The retro graphics combined with smooth gameplay make for an amazing game. The story is engaging with an excellent narrator; sets the perfect the tone. The combat is smooth and fluid. Each character you unlock makes for a unique experience. Each cave is randomly generated and offers unique enemies to fight including elite enemies allowing for varied difficulty. The exploration is phenomenal with lots of items to find and secrets to uncover. Overall it is a near perfect game. 9.5/10

Great co-op dungeon crawler, takes about 20-30 mins to get co-op up and running but totally worth it!
