Darklands
Quality 100 "Hand Axe"
Out of curiosity, does anyone know about the "Hand Axe q00"? I posted it some years ago on one forum on a random website I forgot about, so maybe you have. But to my knowledge NO ONE has ever discovered this exploit/cheat/left-overs-for-play-testers-ease-of-life-thingy. (I truly have no idea why this is a thing.)

So, you know how you can move items from one person to the next right?
And you know how you can move items from the default characters to your customs before you start then remove them then do it again?
Well, that's how I found this "Hand Axe" q00. It would seem that even though the inventory is empty, there is still something there. More often then not it is the "Hand Axe". But sometimes it is leather limbs, and with luck, an alchemist can have a potion from their known list, and that list can be complete if you keep hitting "g" to for them to the next occupation regardless of age. (Though one night at an inn and they die so I don't recommend actually using the old than old character.)

How to get the items above:
1: Empty the inventory of a character.
2: At the very top of the inventory where there would be an item, click and drag like you were moving an item.
3: Go to the character you moved the hidden item to and see what you have gotten. (Often the "Hand Axe".)
4: Find out why I have been using quotation marks around the word hand axe every time.
5: Enjoy your new toy!

Tip: Do this only in the beginning before you start your adventure as there is a high chance of the characters inventory going negative. I tell you this as I got really greedy mid game once and held shift while moving the hidden item multiple times for A LOT of sunburst potions. 255 when you shift click and I did it like one hundred times. That character became a black hole for items that were never seen again. A well trained alchemist character can have multiple items and everyone else has a small chance of having leather limbs just below the "Hand Axe". To see if the character has more than one infinite hidden item just go down to were the next item would be if there were items in the inventory.

What a neat trick. Thanks for sharing. This game is a gem and the programmers, legends.

This sounds a lot like the bug I found way back when I was kid, purely by accident. When I went to loot something in the loot screen I used to sometimes click on items with my mouse, instead of using arrow keys, and when skipping over some l.leather (or clothing) I accidentally clicked on an empty slot, meaning the loot window which holds 4 items had only three left and I clicked on the empty 4th slot.

The blue highlighted text showing what you have selected disappeared and I hit 'g'et and something appeared in my inventory, after which the selected item was reverted to the 3rd item - I was able to click on the 4th/empty slot again and loot multiple items each time. For the first time the item was 'null', and I wasn't really sure what null even was, but when I tried to sell it it sold for like 40 florins or some obscene amount so I was quite happy.

I used to do this quite a lot though and would either get a null item or some gibberish - sometimes the item could be sold other times not. Sometimes looting the null item would cause the game to crash (this is also in earlier versions of the game).

Only as an adult did I try to equip the gibberish/null items and sometimes they were real items of varying quality - I recall once in the latest version looting a 216q plate armor, even though 99q is supposed to be the highest quality... I can't recall testing it to see if it actually mitigated damage (-1 per 10q difference between enemy weapon and your armor), but I assumed it would roll over to be ~16q armor.

You can try this on the latest version of the game too - I recall it rarely crashes and I think you can find actual named items (e.g. v plate armor, or alchemical ingredients) instead of null, but it isn't always easy to determine quality. but it's been awhile so maybe I'm remembering this wrong. Also, it seems every battle has a single 'item type' that you can loot multiple copies of, but to get a different item you need a new loot screen - kind of like RNG.
