When I switch the sound source to the internal speaker or to the monitor speakers before I start the game I can hear the voices in the game. Then I have to switch to my audio interface when the game is running and then you can hear the voices. I have to do this everytime when I want to play the game.
It's a weird workaround and I don't know if this works for everyone.
Like the previous poster, the voice audio specifically seems to work when I select my internal speaker or my Studio Display speakers. If I open the game while my selected system output is my typically-in-use audio interface (an Audient iD14, in my case), then the voices are never audible. And, unlike the previous poster, if I open the game with one of the working outputs selected, then switch the selected system output to my interface, the voices don't become audible. Quite a drag.
Daedalic seems to make some beautiful games that tempt me, but I can't buy them if I'm unsure whether issues like this occur library-wide within their products. And the issue seems rare enough that the answer to that question doesn't seem available.
