Gloria Victis: Medieval MMORPG is a failed MMO where the developers took a bunch of money off gamers then pulled the plug.

There was a lot of promise to the game, but then the developers took a hamfisted approach with the same philosophy as the accountants who designed Sony's Concorde. You see, the accountants who now design games understand that "PvP IS content". It takes less time to develop, less engineers are needed, and PvP players give you money in exchange for being a substitute for actually making real content.

They decided open world PvP was what gamers wanted, were really surprised that the game turned out to be a toxic gankfest.

Actual gamers don't like being content for griefers, so they left, leaving nothing but other griefers. Griefers don't like other griefers because they might have to fight or be ganked themselves, so they left shortly afterwards.

The developers pulled the plug the same year they finished the game, and offered no refunds to gamers.

We're left to wonder if this was a deliberate scam, or simply outright incompetence on a grand scale.
