People buy the game here and should be informed HERE on one of the biggest game forums and sales location in the business. Period.
This cocky private forum business is BS and a relic of the old devs poor management.
This OP is weirdly uninformed with the main posts showing the recent aquisition, but that's on them.
I do have to agree, it can be cumbersome having to open a browser when you're already in the steam discussion but with the new team they have community managers and hopefully when they're in full swing they will be active here. Will take a while though - just the nature of indie development and acquisitions.
Amen to that.
Steam is about having a "neutral forum". As long as you follow the general rules you can be honest. That is worth it's weight in gold.
I am sure after the migration to the new Owners....Steam forums will be cleaned up from the B.S OP stuff.
play it will be fine
i enjoy every time play this game
Because we were already informed THERE like 15 years ago. Every game had it's forums and you had to make an account at each different one, as well as deal with their moderators and special rules, censorship etc.
There is no reason not to use the steam forums other then simple lazyness or unwilling to show the public what you're doing in a place where you can't control topics.
As for your arguement I have no idea. Playing the devils advocate or just absolutely in love with the official forum and discord? All while writing their comment on steam and clearly checking this forum for some reason.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Do you want to trade something with other players / advertise your shop? Are you organizing a hunt or a building contest? Have a question about the game? Posting on the official (not Steam) forum makes your posts be seen by more people and lets PS players participate too. We are one community.
Not sure what you mean by "unwilling to show the public what you're doing in a place where you can't control topics" but developers/publishers have full control over their game's forums on Steam and can ban people / delete topics here as they want.
However, I do agree that developers should post important announcements and updates not only on the official forums but also here on Steam. But it seems that is exactly what they started to do.
Very good point I hadn't considered the other platforms.
I see the official forum as a big fluffy cloud the devs quarantined in.
They had very little pressure from anyone there to do ANYTHING. The serious finger pointing was here in the place they ignored. I suspect my bias comes from that. I also blame a lot of the community for insulating them just to protect their investment/baby. A lot of empty words and imaginations from these folk to explain what the dev was NOT DOING. And in the end...well. Nothing more to say there.
So yes im totally biased :P These new devs may not communicate any more here on steam but at the very least they make event announcements. I just hope we get some love and maybe trigger the interest of a lot of steam players that left.
Maybe. I and many others complained hard on their official forums about the various problems in the game that were going to kill it. My biggest one was space in the game being taken up, and wasted, and unable to be removed for the potential lifespan of the entire game. From dead shops, to dead malls, to dead towns, to dead portal hubs, it all is a complete waste of space, waste of time for players to see and walk through, and the fact that they can be fueled to such an excess that years later i can go into the game and see the same useless sh1t i saw years ago is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying. Its no reason the game is dead, its because new players come around, wander forever, and only see relics of what used to be there, and is no longer functioning.
Just because a new company or what ever has ownership of the game doesn't mean anything. This game will never get better as long as it contains everything in the world currently there. This game needs a wipe, a complete reset of everything and everyone. A brand new start, and without that it will stay the way it is, on life support.
The developers never ran out of money, they were contracted to help develop Baldur's gate 3 by Larian studios, and as a result boundless got put on life support for the time being until they could finish developing Baldur's gate 3.
They were instead approached by monumental and since baldur's gate still wasn't near a release date the owner of wonderstruck sold the IP to them.
Get your facts straight, spitting out lies just makes you look stupid.
This really isnt true though... the project kinda died off as it wasn't producing enough income to justify significant investment, but it was bought out by a larger company and now they have gotten significant cash infusion and a dedicated dev team that is working on rebooting the game. We don't have a lot of details yet, but in various forum posts the CEO has confirmed that there are massive expansions to the game coming and big quality of life improvements, as well as a major price drop to about 15$.
