It's pretty much 50/50 whether a Frostpunk 1 fan will like Frostpunk 2 just as much or be really disappointed that it's nothing like Frostpunk 1.

It's not nothing like Frostpunk, the mechanics of the city building has changed but the art, music and moral dilemmas are still all there. If you liked the mature themes in the first one you'll find them in the second iteration as well. If the only thing you liked about the first game was the building aspect then yeah you might be disappointed.

I ended up liking it for what it offers. Not because its perfect or has nearly as enjoyable pacing as Frostpunk 1. I think what 11 Bit has done with Frostpunk 2 just needs some refinements to bring it up to a Gold standard. I think it wouldnt hurt to explore ways to combine Frostpunk 1 gameplay into Frostpunk 2.

Im looking for more mods and maybe ill get into modding this game myself. Apparently there is a site or two you can get the mod tools at. I have it saved in my Favorites Folder some place .

I agree it needs WAY more refinement, what FP2 is, is bare bones at max. There's barely anythng to do but "Make number go up, and city bigger(wider)" nothing to show for anything, no love in the details. It's a bland skeleton of a "Frostpunk" game.

Just got it and installing it. Looks spot on. Ignoring and blocked all the hot air blowers on here.

didnt like frostpunk2. Frostpunk1 has more concurrent players than frostpunk2 24 hours peak. That says how good frostpunk 1 is even after this many years after. Sequel necessarily doesnt mean its better :D

Ngl, if they at least kept some key feature till you get some cool oil tech, like heatzones. But nah, they just straight up changed near everything but the frostland and laws (only improved the laws) Not to mention oils is just renamed coal lol, maybe 2 techs that are not for extraction of it, that do near nothing.
