I don't mind the challenge for a sidescroller, but good gods is the penalty for being hit in this game too harsh. All your actions, including the slow weapon swapping, get canceled, your speed is reduced to almost nothing and the game doesn't even give you i-frames, which is pretty standard for most games like this. I assume this is to encourage co-op play....
