Users with Unreal Logo/PhysX issues
We're stilling experiencing issues with some users still not able to launch the game. Seemingly `stopping` on the Unreal Logo screen.

If you check Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from command prompt) and see errors for Life is Strange attributed to PhysXCore.dll then read on..

For users on 400 series to 900 series nVidia GPUs. Ensure this driver is installed
http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9.14.0702-driver.html

For OLDER GeForce nVidia users, ensure this driver is installed.
http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9.13.1220-driver.html

We supply both of these in the <steamapps>\common\Life Is Strange\_CommonRedist\PhysX folder..

Possible Fix/Solution for non nVidia users[/b]
  • Go to add/remove programs under control Panel
  • Find `NVIDIA PhysX System Software x.xx.xxxx
  • Uninstall this program (may need to find the nVidia folder under Program files and delete the PhysX folder as it doesnt seem to remove all traces of itself :(
  • Either manually browse to the `commonredist` folder within Steamapps for Life is Strange and install the PhysX driver again (9.13 for older cards, 9.14 for newer) or simply reverify local files to retrigger pre-requisite installation from steam itself.

Shouldnt matter where PhysX is installed to, its a system driver.. Windows handles all that side..

As AMD user you will still need PhysX installed as it will run on AMD cards.

Update with Link ...

PhysX Version in NVIDIA Folder 2.8.3.46
PhysX Version in Game folder 2.8.4.4

What can i do to run the game??
Square_Jason  [desarrollador] 11 FEB 2015 a las 8:16 a. m.
Give this a go.. but make sure you copy the dlls to another folder to give u a back up of them..

rename the physxcore.dll file in the game binaries folder, and copy the 2.8.3.46 one from the nvidia folder into the game folder.. try run the game then..

strange that you're nvidia folder has 2.8.3.46 which is older then the one that SHOULD be installed by the pre-requisites on steam :(

Jackie Daytona 11 FEB 2015 a las 11:45 a. m.
Graphic card: Palit Geforce GTX 970 Jetstream
Driver: 347.52 WHQL (since today, the days before 347.25)
Physxcore.dll: 36x
Physxcore64.dll 1x

did you see my post above asking if they wanted to try backing up the dll in the games binary folder and copying in one of the more recent ones from the nvidia folder.. note its just the physxcore.dll file u need not the 64 one

Unfortunately this doesn't seem to work for me. I tried several of the Physxcore.dlls from the nvidia folder.

I had this issue and already had the correct version of PhysX installed, tried running the installer's repair function and it came up with an error/would not allow me to do that.

So I'm guessing somehow it got corrupted? I uninstalled it, then re-installed it and now I no longer have the hang after the unreal logo. Thanks!

So just to be sure i follow what you did.. You uninstalled PhysX so started from scratch with it?

This also doesn't work for me... (Although I had no error when running the repair function, there was nothing to repair it seems, but uninstalled and reinstalled it to try this method as well)
