The Ending (Spoilers)
I don't care for the ending. Why play a serviceable Metroidvania and then have some hipster anti-imperialism subversion garbage shoved down my throat? There should have been a way to take the heroic way out.

Just my opinion. Left a bad taste in my mouth. Can't just be me.

I thought it was an artistically curious ending, albeit not a satisfying one. That said, I didn't feel the way you did -- I mean, I get it "subversion" and (if I squint right) "hipster", but not "anti-imperialism".

But you're entitled to your own opinion, of course.

I'm very confused what you're referring to. The ending I saw just involved killing the boss, retrieving the warp core, and escaping the solar system. Is there a secret ending that's more involved?

I think OP is referring to how the extra final stage makes it so that killing the boss made him/her feel guilty about killing the final boss.

Oh, okay. I can see that, but it's far from "shoving it down players' throats", lol. Metroid 2 was far more blatant in its similar message.
