Dialogue Glitch?

(Possible Spoilers) I got to the hospital part for the first time and put something up on the corkboard and dialogue flashed in the box for a second and then the dialogue box just went blank yet the game is still acting like talking is going on but i do not hear or see anything. It is not letting me progress. I am confused. I don't want to start over....

DirectX Error Prevents Me from Playing Game

Hey guys, I just downloaded Secret of the Scarlet Hand, and everything installed perfectly, but now when I try to play it, I get the error "InitDirectDraw() - We're sorry - your system cannot play the correct display mode for this game. Game shutting down." I'm running Windows 8.1 with DirectX version 11. I'm assuming the error has something to do with playing such an old game on such a new machine. Display Problems

So, I'm on Windows 11 and of course there's going to be issues running this game. However, I've done the research on it and I've tried everything and I cannot get the game to run. I've tried running it in compatibility mode by going into properties, but the compatibility tab is not there. I've also gone the long way by searching for it through the compatibility troubleshooter in settings, but an error came up that said "Catastrophic failure." What am I doing wrong? This nancy drew game has no real story or mystery to solve, it is literally just playing around in a museum "tomb" winning pointless games to gain access to the next level. WHERE IS THE DRAMA!? THE JUMP SCARES, THE MYSTERY AND WHAT EVEN IS THE POINT OF PLAYING IN SAID TOMB WHEN THERE IS NO OBJECTIVE
