What does the V button do?

Hi Simple enough, what does it do? Does it remove the colours with a time delay? Just stuck on one level with a few wheels in the air (I know, doesn't help), there is a car at the bottom etc. I jump up, and then apart from something above me that I remove or I keep banging my head on it, can't see what else to do, as all (ZXC) doesn't bring anything above me. Thanks...

Colour Symphony*

I'd just like to point out the terrible spelling mistake in the games title, 'Colour' has a U in it as opposed to the erroneous spelling used (Color) I'd suggest sorting this out.
