Yeah I can't remember exactly how I did it but it might possibly have been the compatibility settings and some system audio settings. Sorry i can't remember exactly but it's possible!

I tried to update the exe config for compatibility to win 7 or 8 (Following online suggestions back in 2016), but the game just would not launch... : (

I downloaded the game again yesterday after uninstalling in 2018 because of this bug. Couldn't even start the game with compatibility mode so went back to standard start perimeters. Loaded my old save file; Harakiri, The light of hope, Closest save to ending. Took me a couple of tries to get the final boss bastard but when I finally did.... No crash. It just worked. No clue why but I got past him and the ending credits. It only took seven years to get past. Zero compatibility options. Though I have gotten an new PC since last time I tried. I have a AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, a RTX 3070ti, and windows 11 now. That's what has changed I guess. Maybe its just luck getting through the fight crashless? Tried for ages seven years ago.

I have a I7 14 series and 4070 super. Not sure if hardware could be the cause of the crash, but would not be surprise if it does. I guess I will try it once more after 7 years then XD

Yo, maybe it actually is a hardware compatibility issue? Maybe try on another pc if you got one available?

I have another one with I5 8700 and 1080 GTX, maybe I would give that a shot.
