Runtime Error

I've just spoken to the dev team about the runtime errors some of you have been experiencing when trying to run the game. I f you're getting this then please ensure you have Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) installed.

uninstalled that version and then reinstalled.

still getting the error.

I assume it's something to do with the videos and their playback that's causing the error?

have the same issue, installed the right version and still have the runtime error. Sent an email to support yesterday and still waiting to here back.

I figured it was having the same issue that Dark Souls II had where the game kept crashing/hanging up on the intro sequence. Right before it was about to play it would either freeze on black screen or crash.

the workaround fix at the time was to create a dummy (.txt) file and then change it's extension to (.wmv). It worked and the intro sequence was bypassed.

I tried the same idea for this game and unfortunately it didn't work.

....Although, the error reported differently.

Normally the error would read exactly how it is in that image link in the previous post.
but after the change it actually showed the pathway after "Program:"

i.e. (...wamapps\common\Way of the Samurai 4\WayOfTheSamurai4.exe)

lol. idk if any that is useful for those trouble shooting but I figure the more information out there the better.

finally managed to get to the title screen, check to see if you have LAV filters installed, after I uninstalled them the game finally worked. Really is a problem with the video files then.

uninstalled a codec pack that contained LAV filters...

still no progress.

Fresh install of Windows 10, still get this error even with no filters or anything.

i get this error on win 10 cant even load game at all on the os was fine on windows 7

Try putting the game into Win7 compatibility on Win10.
