Known Issues and Workarounds
Upon release I will be updating this thread with any known issues as and when they appear.

Currently some users are reporting that the game fails to boot properly and that they get the following message:
"File: SRC\GameTask\GameTaskBase.cpp(691)
Expression: ret !=0
Message: CPhysXManager::Init fail"

If this occurs please install PhysX either from the following game folder:
Steam\steamapps\common\Way of the Samurai 4\_CommonRedist\PhysX\9.12.1031
or by getting the latest version of PhysX online.

I've just spoken to the dev team about the runtime errors some of you have been experiencing when trying to run the game. I f you're getting this then please ensure you have Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) installed.

Some sound issues can be solved by changing default sound formate down http://i.imgur.com/JCO4tgV.png

No dialogue – Run the exe in Windows 7 compatibility mode. This has been done by a couple of people who are running Windows 7.

If you can't run the game try getting hold of the latest version of PhysX (9.15) and installing it. Then simply copy the PhysX dll file into the game folder. It has helped someone who was unable to run the game at all.

If you're suffering from crackling audio it may be caused by a compatibility issue with Xonar's GX settings. It can be disabled in the Xonar control panel.

If for whatever reason you cannot find a solution here please email support@ghostlight.uk.com with details of your bug and your Dxdiag. While you can continue to post them here emailing us means that it won't be lost amidst all the other posts and allows us to fix the issues sooner.

Before reporting your problem please try updating both Windows, PhysX and Direct X as this fixes some issues.

Steam layout is isn't readable at all. Also to get the resolution you want, you need to be window mode first then apply the resolution you want, otherwise, you will get a Zoomed in screen.

Also, isn't there a save button? I would like to save anytime instead of waiting for a full even to end.

You can save by talking to a photographer.

Oh, thanks a lot. Didn't know that. The game so far is great, but the music won't work at some points of the game. Is it supposed to be that way? Thanks, so far like the game.

A note about looting bodies. Sometimes you can loot them immedialty once you search but a lot of bodies have to search them 2~4 times on different angles to get the loot. You know you loot the body because you can't perfom the looting animation on them.

Is this a bug or the game should be like that? Thanks.:bbtraccoon:

Still getting the physx error and the game crashes after the last intro (i.e. just before loading the main menu I guess).

Can it be that I'm using a gpu dedicated to physx? Can someone confirm this affects the game?

Updating fixed my 'new game' crash. However, when I die I get a black screen I can only get rid of by closing the game with task manager. Also, when trying to load a save game I get another black screen with just the sounds of boats in the background D:

How are AMD card users supposed to use physX?
Craga 23 Jul, 2015 @ 11:19am
http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/physx-9.15.0428-driver-uk.html

Install that, you dont need a nvidia card to use the software
You can also install the physx in the redist folder in the game directory

Also, I found that installing the directx in the redist folder of the main game directory helped with crashing

You simply install it. PhysX is just a Physic Engine library used by the game, it's just written by NVidia, but is hardware agnostic, you still need to install it even if you're running on AMD

It was like that on PS3 too. Probably just an annoying design decision. Though sometimes NPCs refuse to drop items no matter how many times you kick or search them.

Sometimes I hear cracklings and some noise when NPC talk to me or in cutscenes

Have you tried the sound fix in the OP?
