Loading/Saving Bug
It's been a while since I've played, but recently I have been having troubles trying to save my game or attempting to load an old save file. It always freezes on the screen when I click on load game from the main menu screen or when I start a new game and attempt to load a save from there. When I attempt to save a new game, it won't save period. When I exit the save screen and attempt to open the little folder on the bottom right of the dialogue box, the game freezes again. Does anyone have any suggestions to help me with my problem? I am currently running a Windows XP and the game as worked perfectly in the past before.

This has also happened to me. Right after I load my saved game the screen freezes, but somehow the soundtrack still plays normally...

Am also having this problem on Win7. Have tried windows mode, full screen mode. It's only my latest saves :( Other older saves work.

im on win 10 and no matter what setting i put it on it just wont let me load up my saved game...

Currently having this bug when I'm trying to load a save. It just freezes and I have to alt+tab out of the game to shut it down.

Wouldn't care to play over for the past hour, sigh....

EDIT: Actually managed to fix it by following other person's advice. Start a new game and as soon as you can pause, load your old save from there. It's not a permanent solution but I doubt nothing will be done to this bug since it has persisted since the game came out.

EDIT2: I guess the advice is not so good either since in my case it doesn't work half the time. Every time I've started a new game I've had to play it through in one sitting. Saving's useless since I can't load my saves after that.
This is actually a major problem but for some reason it hasn't been fixed.

Same problem here, I can't load a save file. On two different PCs, one with Win7, one with Win10. Tried several suggested fixes, none of them work.

Adding my voice to the fray.

Windows 10, 64 bit, straight from factory instead of upgrading from 7/8.

Saves aren't working.

Windows 8, 64 bit. I'm also having this problem. The screen freezes when I load normally, and when I load from a new save, everything works except the text never appears.

I'm sad to see that this problem is still persisting. :c I put the game aside in hopes that this bug would be fixed soon. Just recently, I tried jumping back in and there's still the same problem. Does anyone know if this bug will be fixed soon? Because it seems like it's happening on various systems.

This happened to me as well! But found a solution that worked (from the end of this disucssion: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/app/310080/discussions/0/616187203938375767/ )

Click on 'New game', then press the Esc key and click on 'Load'. Selecting saves in this way works for me! (Although the thumbnails are all still red question marks)

(I'm on a Windows 10 laptop + received the game as a gift & played Christmas 2024)
