This game have more charm and appeal then other games like the ones that start with G and end with A.
Who ever made this needs to group up the dev's who made it and make Sleeping Dogs II .

Unfotunately it's unlikely as of now. The main developer went bust. They were initially working on a direct sequel, but decided to cancel it. Apparently, their publisher pushed for them to make a Sleeping Dogs-themed MMO called 'Triad Wars', this failed and the team folded.

However, they did begin filming a movie about Sleeping Dogs, featuing Donnie Yen as Wei Shen. It's been in what appears to be production hell for a years now, though in 2022 Donnie stated that it was still in development. When, or if, it will ever release is unknown, but it seems more realistic to expect this to release than a sequel.

Well, the game appears to be undergoing a mini-renaissance now, the steam charts show it has been steadily gaining, not losing concurrent players over the past few years, clearly demonstrating a healthy interest in the game. Gaming YouTubers seem to also be talking about it more in recent times, which is not very usual for a game this old. If the movie was to draw enough attention and hype, it wouldn't be completely unthinkable that they might have another studio take a crack at it.

This is still VERY optimistic, though. I'd give the movie about a 33% chance of coming out, and if it releases, and does well (which also is not guaranteed), it triggering some form of revival of the game at perhaps another 25-30%. So, all in all, not very likelly. But the fact that they are still even discussing using the setting, even for just a movie, shows that the publisher isn't done with the IP just yet. From then on, if the prospects look good for a sequel or spin off, it isn't fully off the table that they might try for it. They just need to see the consumer demand (and hence money) in undertaking such a project.

Let's hope so, but let's not get our hopes up too high.

Lastly, there is also speculation that Square Enix, who owned the IP for sleeping dogs, sold those rights to Embracer Group back a couple of years ago. In mid 2022 Embracer bought several major franchises off Square Enix, including Thief, Deus Ex, Tomb Raider and what is described as "a back-catalog of nearly 50 IPs". Several IPs were, however, retained by Square Enix, like Just Cause and Life is Strange. The odd part is that neither company seemed to mention the Sleeping Dogs franchise, so we don't know if it was part of the deal or not.

If it was sold, and we're not sure it was, Embracer would likely have had a reason for wanting to buy it, which would put further work on the series more likely. Again, unfortunately, we're just not sure. What we do know, however, is that Donnie Yen stated that the IP had been settled for the movie and wouldn't be an issue for filming.

I hope one day some studio makes a sequal, this game deserves it. Played the hell out of it on the Xbox 360. It was my Yakuza before I went to Playstation and eventually PC.

Like others have said, maybe if that damn movie ever comes out it could revive interest in the franchise. Taking a long time though and if Donny Yen isn't able to be Wei Shen for the movie then I think Simu Liu could be a good candidate. Looks more like Wei than Donny does and he's also a martial artist.

I hope so, too. Currently, the movie appears to be the small ray of hope that might put the franchise back in the spotlight.

By the way, for anyone interested, you should look up the Infernal Affairs movie trilogy. The dev team of Sleeping Dogs cited them as some of their biggest influences while making the game. It's about the HKPD attempting to infiltrate triads in Hong Kong, while the triads attempt to do so back. The parallels between their storylines and Sleeping Dogs are very clear.

Would love to see additional sleeping dogs titles taking place in other countries like Japan, South Korea, India, china, Thailand. Like the original sleeping dogs and the true crime games, these games will have you play as a cop, with some having you play as 2-3 protagonists
