The Ballad of Jim Bob

1) This here is the story
of the Legend who is Jim Bob
but who remains to tell it?
To us that is our job.

2) Maybe he lived as he died
But its still a mystery
His remains on Mystery Lake
Perhaps in the Camp Office you will see.

3) But he deserves a Ballad
So a song we'll sing for him
We could pass him over a guitar,
But was it for Jim Bob, or was it for Bob Jim?

4) Regardless what his name was
How he lived or how he died
He expired there in Camp Office
Resigned to fate and cried

5) He found a corner at the top of the stairs
He found a resting place.
He found no hope, just despair
You might see it on his face.

6) Who knows how long he's been there.
Where he's gone or where he's from
A day a month a mile
But he's as dead as he is dumb.

7)The silence before we found him.
The creaks of cabin groan unheard.
It must have been a lonely place
Naught but dust and ice, never any words.

8)But then we barge in uninvited
A guest he did not ask
To entertain the living for
That is now his only task.

9) For now now we'd like to live there too
The Office is our home
When we're not just passing by
like others as we roam.

10) Day to day, night to night
Time comes at us all
But a quick search is all what most will give
Poor Jim Bob now is just a doll.

11) In his pockets, what'd he have?
A single bandage, some paper thin?
Or that hat, you can't remove
A worn jacket on some frozen skin

12) Or nothing much
could he have to give
or else he'd have used it
and else might've lived.

13) How many friends he must have seen
In those looking for some company.
Doesn't seem so crazy now
Compared to that guy who drank his own pee

14) Cheer up Jim Bob
Don't be sad, we're still here
I'll just be out fishing
Or maybe bagging that deer

15) But now I've a conundrum
I can't get enough
With limited storage space
So here Jim Bob, hold my stuff

16) Some tea on your head
Some books at your feet
Some guts in your guts
Some meat in your meat

17)Its not the most sanitary
Nor sane thing I know
But its quicker than putting rocks inside rocks
in cairns outside in the snow.

18) You're still useful Jim Bob
With you we're never to be bored.
We thank you for being here
where all my charcoal is stored.

19) And when I go out again,
Keep my rifle and stand guard
Even though your sitting there dead
You're more suited for that than as a bard.

20) So its left to us to tell the tale
of Jim Bob the water boy
or of Jim Bob the trucker guy
Either way whoever he was, he brings joy to you and I.

21) Although some think he is disturbing
A bit creepy, perhaps its true
Because sleeping next to a dead guy
He could still be watching you.

22) But in reality
It's all just in my head
But still not my thoughts that think of you
Jim Bob, In our hearts alive that would be dead.
