First off, we want to send a massive thank you to our community. Your feedback, bugs reports, and support have been invaluable in helping us shape and improve Captain Blood. We’ve read your comments, checked your reports, and truly appreciate your patience as we worked on this patch. Our goal was to tackle as many issues as possible in one solid update — and now, it's here!

* Main menu now plays the correct music
* Resolved crashes after visiting the shop in Episodes 9 & 36
* Fixed overflow in Control Settings - Quick Attack and Strong Attack

* No more floating grass in Episode 17 QTE
* Fixed ship lighting in the prologue cutscene
* Tackled cannon control navigation issues
* Widescreen support is now fixed

Captain Blood Sets Sail – Launches Today with Steam Deck Support!

Today marks a big day for Captain Blood.

Its story started in early 2000s when the game started development. In early 2010s it was cancelled. Now the game is finally available for gamers.

 Captain Blood is the game of its era with all its charm and flaws. If you are a fan of pirates, hack’n’slash and retro vibes - we believe that’s the game for you. What’s more important, we hope it will make you smile at least a few times and give positive moments.

If you're still not certain about the game, we got you covered — the demo has been updated to match the release build, so you can give it a proper try before boarding full-time.

For those who want to play it on Steam Deck - do it. The game fully supports it. The interface, font size, controller support, and resolution have been adapted to provide the best possible experience from day one.

Demo patch #2

Ahoy everyone!

As we sail closer to the game’s release, we’ve updated the demo to better reflect its state and the new technologies in it: x64 architecture, modern rendering APIs (DirectX 12 by default, with Vulkan available via an .ini file), a physics engine adapted to the new systems, and a range of smaller quality-of-life improvements.

We’d love for you to give it a try and share your thoughts—it really helps us fine-tune the game for launch. And for those of you playing on a Steam Deck, this build is optimized for it, so we’re especially interested in hearing how it runs for you.

Implemented a temporary fix to prevent game crashes on SteamDeck.
Default settings now feature rebalanced audio levels and fullscreen mode.
The "No Mercy" achievement now functions correctly.
The key binding tool no longer permits binding to system keys.
Various UI improvements.

Ahoy, brave pirates! ⚓

First, a heartfelt thank you for setting sail with us and taking the time to dive into the Captain Blood demo. This game has had quite a journey—it went through several iterations in the 2000s, was last shown in 2010, and then disappeared for years. Now, we’re thrilled to be bringing it back, and your support means the world to us.

As you step into the boots of a fearsome pirate on your quest for gold and glory, your feedback is more valuable than ever. We're committed to staying true to the original design and honoring the hard work of the original team. That said, we'd love to know: What did you enjoy? What could be improved? Your input is key in shaping the final experience.

Now, a quick heads-up: we're still hard at work on a few things, so you may notice some unfinished elements. Here’s a glimpse of what’s still in the works:

* We're finishing up a new render that will bring features like motion blur, improved bloom, HDR, widescreen support, Ground-Truth Ambient Occlusion, Temporal Anti-Aliasing, and more. For now, the demo runs on DirectX 9.
* Not all language localizations are fully integrated yet.
* We’re tweaking the Quick-Time Events for smoother gameplay.
* All character models have been reworked, but we’re still polishing their animations.
* Some UI bugs may pop up, especially at lower resolutions.
* And, of course, we’ve got a few funny bugs still onboard—like enemies getting stuck in midair or finishers being a bit rough around the edges! 😆
