What we have found throughout the years is that the game is detecting some piece as hardware as input, it could be anything, and that's the cause of the strange issue you're encountering. If I recall, disabling/disconnecting the hardware will effectively solve the problem, but I understand that in your case it's the keyboard itself that seems to be causing the issue.
This game is made in a rather limiting (to the developers) engine, so I haven't been able to figure out how to fix this problem from the game itself.

It's unfortunate to hear that. But oh, game is short, I guess I will call it super hard difficulty and try to beat the game anyway.
I will get back with another reply if I find a solution for my hardware.
