Insecure mode???
It's been months since I played DoD, so I figured it's time. It loads up, just something with VAC telling me i'm in insecure mode. Linux Mint XFCE using Proton. I verify integrity of files, they fine, tried Proton 9, not sure what else to do.

Please help.

Check your Launch options, make sure this isn't in there....
-insecure

That is normally used for RCBot2 or server mods like MetaMod.

well that was completely irrelevant. It's DOD; Source if that helps?? I have no idea why it suddenly keeps giving me "insecure mode" launch options aren't even touched.
You probably won't get an answer from here since almost everyone who plays this game uses windows.

Search on google "tf2 linux vac insecure" or CS2/CSGO, one of the way more popular games and will find a lot more support for this issue.

It is a bug for sure, has not happened to me on Linux (nobara or ubuntu) unless I do have "-insecure" in launch options.

Edit: running on Linux native always, Proton may also cause that issue I see.

However, others like you report the same, nothing in launch options but still it's launching in insecure mode.

Now some have verified the game files, but you tried that too.

The OP in that Github link said this...
Okay I forgot this was still open so I might as well close it now.

The reason why I was having this issue was because I wasn't launching it directly from the desktop shortcut, I was launching it from the uh steam folder which has both the x64 and the legacy x32 and both of them would not let me connect to servers. I hope this helps with anyone else's issue.

Nasty bug!
